Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) has minted a new set of headphones as part of its partnership with the McLaren automotive brand in the Px8 S2 McLaren Edition.
Px8 S2 McLaren Edition Features
According to the company the McLaren Edition continues to build on the award-winning Px8 S2 platform, while adding those signature design cues from the McLaren brand.
The headphones use bespoke 40 mm Carbon Cone drive units with reworked voice coil, suspension and magnet assemblies.
The headphones support Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless audio, paired with Bowers & Wilkins’ own DSP to deliver clean 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution. On top of that, a tuned active noise-cancellation (ANC) system suppresses external distractions without damping the musical nuance.
Owners can control the listening experience via the Bowers & Wilkins Music app by toggling noise-canceling transparency, adjusting EQ, tweaking wear-sensor sensitivity. There’s also a programmable “Quick Action” button with the ability to save presets for later recall.
According to B&W, the headphones are able to last 30 hours per full charge, with a fast recharge delivering as much as seven hours of use after just 15 minutes plugged in.
Of course, the most striking aspect of these models is the finish, adding design cues drawn directly from McLaren’s racing heritage. The headphones feature McLaren’s signature Papaya orange paired with Anthracite Grey, and subtle Speedmark logos on the headband and earcups.
Meanwhile, diamond-cut logo plates and memory-foam cushions wrapped in Nappa leather give the cans a luxurious feel.
Pricing and Availability
B&W’s headphone tie-up with McLaren continues a multiyear partnership that was recently extended at the start of this year. The collaboration has yielded products like the McLaren Zeppelin back in 2023 as well as the Pi8 McLaren Edition Earbuds.
