Control company URC has announced a new user interface theme for its Total Control automation platform, introducing a design approach centered on transparency, softened geometry, and visual continuity across devices.
Called Translucent, the new UI theme adds programmer-adjustable transparency and rounded interface elements intended to create a calmer, less visually rigid control experience. According to URC, the design is meant to keep information accessible without overwhelming the user, allowing interface layers to appear or recede based on context, task, and user preference.
The Translucent theme replaces sharp edges and defined borders with rounded buttons, cards, and containers, emphasizing smoother transitions and more fluid navigation. Layered depth is used to reveal detail gradually, rather than presenting all information at once, while softened contrast and spacing are designed to reduce visual tension across screens.
Key characteristics of the Translucent theme include adjustable transparency levels, rounded controls and navigation elements, layered depth that reveals information progressively, and a consistent visual language across remotes, touchscreens, and mobile apps. URC notes that the design is intended to work uniformly across the Total Control ecosystem, providing a familiar experience regardless of device type.
URC positions the update as part of an evolving UI design strategy that emphasizes approachability and continuity over complexity. The color palette draws from warm neutrals and muted tones, with restrained accents used to highlight priority information. Motion and feedback are intended to guide interaction without drawing attention away from the task itself.
From an integration perspective, URC says the new theme is designed to give programmers creative flexibility while maintaining predictable outcomes across projects. The company describes Translucent as a foundation for future interface development within the Total Control platform.
The Translucent UI theme is part of URC’s ongoing software updates for Total Control and will be available to authorized dealers through platform releases.
