Sonos has introduced two new speakers, Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL, as part of what the company describes as a renewed focus on strengthening its multiroom audio ecosystem. The new models are designed to provide flexible entry points into the Sonos platform while supporting expansion into larger connected audio and home theater deployments.
Sonos Play is positioned as a versatile portable speaker intended for use both inside and outside the home. The unit supports WiFi connectivity for multiroom synchronization and Bluetooth operation for mobile listening scenarios. The speaker includes a removable utility loop for portability along with a charging base designed to anchor the device within a fixed system when used indoors. The company says the speaker delivers up to 24 hours of battery life and features an IP67-rated enclosure intended to withstand dust and water exposure in outdoor environments.
The device also introduces expanded grouping functionality. Sonos says users can synchronize multiple compatible speakers directly through a Bluetooth connection when away from a home network, enabling temporary multi-speaker playback scenarios in outdoor or remote locations. Automatic Trueplay tuning technology is designed to dynamically adjust sound performance based on environmental conditions.

The new Sonos Play will be available later this month.
The Era 100 SL provides a streamlined alternative within the Sonos lineup with a microphone-free design aimed at users seeking simplified operation or privacy-focused deployments. The speaker is intended to function as a standalone listening solution while also supporting stereo pairing, multiroom audio grouping and integration into surround sound or distributed audio configurations over time.
Both speakers support a wide range of streaming services and playback protocols including Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2, along with voice assistant integrations where applicable. Sonos says ongoing platform updates and cross-generational compatibility remain central to its system strategy, allowing integrators and end users to expand installations without requiring replacement of existing components.
Sonos Play is priced at $299, while the Era 100 SL is priced at $189. Preorders opened March 10 with general availability scheduled for March 31 through Sonos and select retail partners.
