At CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025 in Denver, Logic Integration founder and CEO Shawn Hansson in the Volkswagen ID. Buzz van-turned-podcast booth reflected on nearly two decades of growth, connection, and opportunity at the industry’s largest gathering for residential and light commercial technology professionals. Hansson, who first attended the show in 2006 as a young integrator still finding his footing, says the annual event has shaped both his career and his company.
“There’s a lot of history with CEDIA, and training and courses I’ve taken and new manufacturer relationships and lifelong friends that I’ve met through this show,” he says.
This year, Logic Integration brought more than 35 team members to the floor, illustrating the company’s expansion and its belief in the value of exposing staff to new ideas and technologies. Hansson also applauds the event’s evolution into CEDIA Expo/CIX, which better reflects the merging worlds of residential and commercial integration.
“I definitely have a motto, do everything with excellence,” he says.
Hansson explains that Logic Integration deliberately built expertise in both sectors, hiring and training specialists rather than treating commercial work as a side pursuit. That dual competency made the company a natural participant in this year’s education session on branching into light commercial.
“Start small. Start in your own community,” he says.
By observing local restaurants, bars, or retail spaces for AV issues and offering simple solutions, he notes, integrators can build a foundation in commercial work. Testing gear in their own offices or homes, he adds, helps teams gain comfort before deploying systems for clients.
Logic Integration earned two Integration Awards this year, including a rebuild of a vandalized and fire-damaged sportsbook and a series of meeting spaces for a Denver investment firm. Hansson also highlighted a standout recent project: an AI-driven interactive studio in San Francisco featuring a three-sided touch-enabled video wall and beamforming microphones.
“People do not want 25 applications to run their spaces,” he says. “We’re starting to see a lot more partnerships forming…and I love that.”
Hansson invites integrators looking to expand into commercial work to connect with him on LinkedIn.
