Nuki, an Austrian leader in smart access solutions, has announced its official entry into the U.S. market with the latest version of its Nuki Smart Lock. Known for its strong focus on privacy and advanced technology, the company aims to provide American homeowners and renters with a reliable, keyless entry solution. The product arrives in the U.S. market following its recognition as a 2025 CES Innovation Awards Honoree, reflecting its commitment to cutting-edge design and functionality.
Features and Technology
The Nuki Smart Lock is engineered to retrofit onto standard U.S. single-cylinder deadbolts, making it an accessible option for renters and homeowners alike. Installation is designed to be simple and quick, requiring no drilling or permanent modifications, and can be completed in under 15 minutes.
One of the standout features of the latest Nuki Smart Lock is its newly integrated brushless motor. This technology, commonly used in electric vehicles, enhances the lock’s durability, energy efficiency, and performance, enabling doors to be unlocked in less than one second. Additionally, a high-speed locking mode ensures quieter operation, while the lock’s battery life can last up to 12 months depending on the connectivity setup.
The product is designed with a compact form factor, featuring a stainless steel body paired with a black base ring. With a 2.2-inch diameter, it integrates easily into diverse home aesthetics.
Users can control the lock via the Nuki app, which allows remote access, monitoring, and activity tracking. Other unlocking methods include PIN codes, fingerprint recognition, smartwatches, and standard physical keys, providing multiple options based on user preference. The Auto Unlock function uses geolocation to automatically unlock the door when users approach.
Smart Home Compatibility
The Nuki Smart Lock supports Matter, the universal smart home protocol, as well as a variety of major smart home platforms, including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. This extensive compatibility enables users to integrate the lock seamlessly into their existing smart home ecosystems, providing additional options for automation and connected device management.
Privacy and Security
Privacy and data security are central to Nuki’s approach. Unlike some other smart lock providers, Nuki does not store security-related data on its own servers. Instead, all data remains locally stored on the device itself, offering users control over their personal information without requiring cloud integration. The product also operates without the need for a mandatory user account.
To further support security, the lock employs end-to-end encryption for data transmissions. This method aligns with standards often used by online banking systems, ensuring that communication between the lock and connected devices remains secure.
Pricing and Availability
The Nuki Smart Lock is now available for purchase in the U.S. through Amazon. The base version of the lock is priced at $159. An upgraded package, which includes the Nuki Keypad 2 with access code and fingerprint functionality, is available for $229. Additional accessories, such as the standalone Nuki Keypad ($89), Keypad 2 ($149), and the Door Sensor ($59), can be purchased separately.
Nuki has also introduced a subscription service called Nuki Premium, available for $5.90 per month. The subscription includes features like full remote access via the app, real-time activity alerts, a two-year immediate replacement guarantee, and other exclusive benefits. For users who sign up by September 30, 2025, Nuki Premium will be available free for the lifetime of their Smart Lock. The service is particularly geared toward property owners who use the lock for rental purposes, offering integrations with platforms such as Airbnb and Lodgify.
