First announced during CEDIA Expo 2018 this past fall, the new Luxul XMS-1208P Managed Gigabit Switch and AMX-1816P Managed Gigabit Switch are helping to support the residential networking market's need for more robust networking solutions.

Luxul says its latest network switches are engineered to provide integrators a choice of gigabit switches offering enterprise-grade performance.

“Since their debut at CEDIA this year CI [custom installation] integrators have been counting down the days until the XMS-1208P and AMS-1816P begin shipping. Well, I'm thrilled to be the bearer of good news: They can get their hands on the XMS-1208P now and only have to wait a few more weeks for the AMS-1816P,” notes Mike Grubb, vice president of marketing, Luxul.

“With their scalability, features and benefits, high-speed performance and simple installation—all at unheard of price points—these managed switches are gifts that keep on giving for installations of any size.”

Luxul Switches Provide Plenty of Ports

The XMS-1208P is designed for residential and commercial applications, including security and VoIP (voice over IP), where the switch can serve as a stand-alone or add-on switch. Additionally, the XMS-1208P incorporates an easy-to-use interface while providing options such as QoS, VLAN support and fast network switching.

The switch also includes port auto recovery and power scheduling to help support reliability and uptime.

Moreover, the XMS-1208P incorporates a pair of Gigabit RJ-45 ports and a pair of SFP port to enable integrators to connect devices, as well as additional switches via category or fiber-optic cables.

The XMS-1208's Power over Ethernet (PoE+) ports are capable of powering PoE-enabled devices such as touchpanels, VoIP, IP cameras and wireless access points (WAPs).

Available later in January 2019, the AMS-1816P 18-port/16 PoE+ L2/L3 Network Gigabit Switch provides the same features as the XMS-1208P, but provides a total of 18 ports to address mid-size system installations.

Additionally, the AMS-1816P Network Gigabit Switch comes with two Gigabit RJ-45/SFP+ combo ports to support high-speed connections between SFP+ compatible Luxul switches.
