Lutron is Adding Native Integrations Across Host of Luxury Products

Dubbed 'Native by Design,' the program will see select lighting and shading receive custom hardware for control within Lutron's ecosystem.

Lutron has launched a new initiative aimed squarely at the high-end custom integration market, which is called Native by Design.

The offering natively embeds Lutron’s lighting, shade, and control technology into premium fixtures and furnishings manufactured by established luxury brands, adding what it hopes is an extra degree of reliability for integrators when installing fixtures, similar to Vantage’s fixture and keypad collectives.

Integration tech under the Native by Design banner includes natural white light that shifts throughout the day, true-to-nature decorative and architectural lighting and intelligent, sun-aware shades.

Initial Brands Included in Native by Design

The initial cohort of brands in the initiative include Coastal Source (exterior lighting), Hartmann & Forbes (woven shade fabrics), Niche Modern, and Cerno (decorative lighting), which will be on display at CEDIA Expo 2025, (booth #1912).

Additional collaborators include CONRAD Handwoven Window Coverings, David Trubridge, Del Motorized Solutions, Insolroll, Leon, Shading Source, Stephen Pikus Designs, Uplight Group and Vibia.

A Foundation in Functionality

With Coastal Source already having collaborated with Lutron to include Ketra outdoor fixtures in its product lineup, the company has already seen some integration into the Lutron ecosystem to date, though this will introduce a marked expansion of that relationship.

Under the Native by Design program, all the listed brands’ products will receive custom integrations with Ketra and Rania lighting engines, in addition to Lutron’s own shade drives.

While this adds a degree of reliability to installations, it’s also worth noting that this adds a degree of functionality to the products as well.

As an example: Lutron’s Natural Light Optimization (NLO) automatically adjusts shades throughout the day based on solar positioning to reduce glare and heat while enhancing comfort.

Building upon this pre-existing foundation, the Native by Design program has the potential to marry natural light experiences on the Lutron platform with that extra layer of integrated control.

Lutron Leadership Calls it ‘Clear Win’ for Integrators

Ben Bard, VP of Luxury Residential at Lutron, frames the initiative as a “clear win” for integrators:

“Native by Design demonstrates Lutron’s commitment to the integrator community by delivering unmatched experiences for our mutual end clients… dealers can offer an elevated experience across more products and applications in the home and in turn, grow their business.”
