L-Acoustics is expanding its installation-focused product lineup with the launch of the LA1.16i, an ultra-compact, 16-channel amplified controller designed to bring the brand’s sound quality and technical capabilities to small and medium-scale projects and more residential projects.
Following the approach first introduced with the higher-powered LA7.16i, the LA1.16i is engineered for applications where space efficiency, high channel count, and affordability are key priorities.
Occupying just 1U of rack space, the LA1.16i delivers significant amplification density and supports the deployment of large numbers of speakers—up to 48 X4i compact enclosures per unit. L-Acoustics is positioning the new model for near-field and short-throw audio applications across sectors including hospitality, retail, cultural venues, and residential entertainment environments.
According to Genio Kronauer, director of research and development of technologies and platforms at L-Acoustics, the LA1.16i follows the success of the company’s LA7.16i amplified controller, but for smaller projects.
“The LA1.16i applies the same innovative approach to these applications, significantly reducing the cost-per-channel of amplification while maintaining the sonic signature and reliability that L-Acoustics is known for,” Kronauer says.
The LA1.16i includes L-SMART, the company’s proprietary power management system that matches real-time power delivery to the needs of connected loudspeakers, optimizing energy efficiency and system reliability. Though not intended for high-SPL reinforcement, the unit is suitable for a wide range of distributed and immersive audio configurations, including, high-end home cinema and yacht entertainment systems.
For integrators, the LA1.16i includes multiple connectivity and control options. The amplifier supports Milan-AVB and AES67 network audio with seamless redundancy, as well as analog and AES/EBU inputs. It also features terminal block connectors, GPIOs for control system integration, and a 24V DC backup power input for DSP continuity, the company says.
The unit is fully compatible with L-Acoustics’ LA Network Manager software and supports third-party integration via Q-SYS plugins, Crestron modules, and HTTP API control, according to L-Acoustics.
