Keder Screens has announced its official launch into the residential custom installation (CI) channel with a purpose-built motorized outdoor screen platform known as V-Screen.
Who is Keder Screens
Founded by Justin Collins in 2022, Keder Screens is a Dallas-based manufacturer of custom outdoor screen systems that operates as a DBA of International Shade Products Inc. Collins himself brings over 25 years of working in the screen and shade industry to the company and is the inventor of Keder’s V-Screen retention platform.
The news today marks Keder’s official entry into the CI channel with Kim Parker, formerly of Screen Innovations (SI) and Control4, helming the new venture as Head of Business Development and Partner/Owner of Keder Screens.
The Technology Behind the Brand
As per Keder’s website, the V-Screen Retention System eschews the use of zipper teeth and magnets, which in Collins’s experience were found to be the source of many failure points within the screens he was working with.
Per the company’s PR announcing its entry into the CI channel, a large focus of the system is to address many of the issues that have led to outdoor screens being labeled a “high-risk” scope item.
“I didn’t start Keder Screens to make small tweaks—I started it because I’ve been the one on the ladder fixing the same predictable failures,” said Justin Collins.
“Our goal is straightforward: give dealers an outdoor screen platform engineered to perform in real conditions, reduce callbacks, and make every install cleaner and more dependable.”
More Details on V-Screen
According to Keder, the V-Screen system is rated to withstand 100+ mph winds (up to 18 by 14 feet in published specs).
The line also comes with a variety of fabric options from brands including Yuma and Twitchell and are backed by a 10-year performance warranty. The line is also supported with CAD/BIM resources to streamline design collaboration and specification.
Takeaways for Integrators
Baseline the product offers common control experiences via voice, app and wall switch, however, it’s use of Somfy motors alongside its own proprietary offerings opens the door for integrations into commonly used control platforms and automation systems.
The big focus the company has for its products, however, is mechanical reliability. While longevity of the product is a beneficial quality in the scope of the client experience, another major aspect that Keder is seeking to address is the number of callouts integrators might need to make to repair damaged screens.
In addition, Keder is opening up its resources to dealers that include in-house and onsite training programs and design tools, the latter of which includes a Patio Vizualizer designed to help support project proposals.
