GUDE Systems has introduced the Expert Power Control 8291-2, a rack-mountable power distribution unit (PDU) designed to manage both AC and DC loads in professional AV, IT, and smart home environments.
The unit provides 21 individually switchable outlets: 17 for DC voltages (24V, 12V, and 5V) and four for AC power (110 to 230V). This allows direct connection of a wide range of equipment without the need for external power bricks. The integrated 300W industrial power supply is housed in a 1RU metal chassis for 19-inch racks, offering a compact footprint for space-constrained installations.
Control and monitoring functions are accessible locally or remotely via HTTPS, SNMP, and other supported protocols. The PDU includes event-driven switching, programmable on/off sequences, switch-on delay to limit inrush currents, and the ability to trigger outlet control based on sensor thresholds. Built-in environmental monitoring supports plug-and-play sensors for temperature, humidity, and air pressure, with alerting options via email, syslog, and SNMP traps.
Safety and reliability measures include per-outlet electronic fuses, Type 3 surge protection, and residual-current monitoring. Energy meters measure consumption down to the DC outlet level, helping integrators reduce unnecessary power usage.
The Expert Power Control 8291-2 integrates with popular AV control platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Savant, AMX, and Control4. Potential applications include conference rooms, theaters, marine environments, digital signage and residential systems.
