Focal has announced the Mu-so Hekla, an all-in-one immersive home-cinema and music system that combines Dolby Atmos processing, advanced acoustic engineering, and a refined industrial design. According to the company, Mu-so Hekla is designed to replace multi-component setups with a single unit capable of delivering a full 7.1.2 experience in rooms up to 430 square feet.
Focal says the system connects easily to TVs, gaming consoles, or Blu-ray players via HDMI eARC and optical Toslink, while also supporting wireless playback through AirPlay, Google Cast, UPnP, and Bluetooth. Users can stream directly from services including Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, and QQ Music using the Focal & Naim app, which also enables synchronized multiroom playback across compatible systems.
Control options include voice assistants such as Google Home and Siri, smartwatch widgets for Apple Watch and Android Wear, and integration with leading home-automation platforms including Control4, Savant, and Crestron. The tactile rotary dial on the unit allows for manual volume and playback control.
At the heart of Mu-so Hekla is the Naim Pulse Platform, a digital streaming and processing engine that powers connectivity and acoustic calibration. Focal explains that the system’s Sphere module supports multiple audio modes including Sphere Music, Sphere Movie, Dolby Music, Dolby Movie, and Dolby Night. Each designed to optimize spatial performance. Beamforming and crosstalk-cancellation technologies help shape the soundstage, while the company’s proprietary ADAPT intelligent tuning automatically analyzes room acoustics and adjusts output for optimal balance.
The aluminum cabinet houses fifteen individually amplified speaker drivers: seven front-facing, four on the sides, and four on top. The array includes three 6×3-inch woofers, two 2.75-inch midrange drivers, two 1-inch tweeters, and eight 1.5×2.75-inch full-range drivers. Each transducer is powered by its own Class-D amplifier, producing a total of 660 watts—three 60-watt for the woofers and 12 watts each W for the remaining channels.
According to Focal, the system delivers a frequency response of 30 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) with a low-frequency extension down to 27 Hz and a maximum output of 108 dB SPL at one meter. An RCA output is available for those who wish to connect an external subwoofer.
Mu-so Hekla’s chassis is machined from brushed and sand-blasted anodized aluminum with a finely perforated grille. The design echoes the precision detailing found in the company’s Diva Utopia loudspeakers, including the “watch-crown”-inspired volume dial. A rear heat-sink assembly developed by Naim doubles as a concealed Wi-Fi antenna for improved signal stability.
The system supports a wide range of audio formats up to 384 kHz, including WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, MP3, AAC, OGG, and DSD 64/128. Multichannel compatibility extends to Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby MAT, and multichannel FLAC/WAV playback up to 7.1 channels at 192 kHz. Mu-so Hekla also features Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Ethernet support, and an automatic standby function that can be customized through the app.
Focal says the Mu-so Hekla will launch November 6 at the Focal Powered by Naim store in Seoul, followed by release in South Korea and China ahead of a global rollout in Q1 2026. The system will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas (January 6–9) and ISE 2026 in Barcelona (February 3–6).
The Mu-so Hekla will retail for $3,600 and will be available exclusively through the Focal Powered by Naim retail network.
