Brilliant NextGen Integrates BluOS Platform to Expand Unified Smart Home Audio Control

Brilliant NextGen integrates BluOS to unify high-resolution multiroom audio control with lighting and smart home systems.

Brilliant NextGen has announced a new integration with the BluOS multiroom, high-resolution audio platform, extending the capabilities of its smart home control system and providing integrators with another option for centralized audio management in connected home environments.

The integration enables homeowners to control BluOS-compatible audio products directly from Brilliant NextGen’s in-wall smart home controllers, mobile application and supported voice control platforms. Through a unified interface, users can manage playback, browse music content such as artists and playlists, adjust volume levels and view what is currently playing, alongside other smart home functions including lighting, climate control and security.

From an integration perspective, the companies say the collaboration is intended to simplify system design and improve overall usability. By combining Brilliant NextGen’s control platform with BluOS’ high-resolution audio ecosystem, installers can deliver more cohesive multiroom audio experiences while potentially reducing configuration complexity and installation time. The integration also provides integrators with another way to position distributed audio as part of a broader, fully integrated smart home offering.

BluOS is designed to support high-resolution audio playback and integrates with a range of streaming music services as well as locally stored content. The platform is used by multiple hi-fi audio brands and supports file formats such as FLAC, WAV and other high-resolution codecs, enabling playback across interoperable devices throughout the home.

Brilliant NextGen positions the integration as part of its broader strategy to consolidate control of multiple smart home subsystems into a single interface. The company says this approach is intended to simplify daily interaction with connected technologies while expanding customization opportunities for homeowners seeking more unified living environments.

Brilliant-BluOS Integration in Action

A recent deployment by Texas-based integrator David Berman, president of ESD Technologies, offers insight into how the integration is being implemented in real-world environments. Berman installed the combined Brilliant and BluOS solution in his own residence, using multiple BluOS-enabled components distributed throughout the home and controlled via Brilliant in-wall panels.

“As a dealer for Brilliant and Bluesound, we see firsthand how they deliver a premium experience at an approachable price. Seamless control, exceptional sound, and real everyday value without overcomplicating the home,” Berman said.

The project highlights how centralized control can influence adoption within a household. Berman notes that family members are engaging more frequently with distributed audio because of the simplified user experience and the ability to initiate playback through the same interface used for lighting and other home controls.

The installation also illustrates the level of interoperability between the platforms. According to the case study, BluOS-compatible devices automatically populated within Brilliant’s music interface, with room naming and grouping functions carrying over without the need for complex configuration or custom drivers.

Brilliant NextGen, the reincarnation of smart home control company Brilliant, has been actively pushing new integrations and products with a new focus on the professional channel. This new identity includes a new pro-only PoE panel that launched earlier this year.
