Outdoor technology provider Furrion is making a big splash in the custom integration channel. CE Pro recently asked the company to tell us more about the company and its solutions.
CE Pro: Can you give some company background?
Furrion was founded in 2004 with a focus on designing and manufacturing products for the outdoor and on-the-go lifestyle. Our product lineup spans the marine, RV, and residential markets — all engineered to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. In 2021, Furrion was acquired by Lippert, a leader in rugged-use products across similar industries. Bottom line: We’re experts in building technology that stands up to whatever Mother Nature throws our way.
CE Pro: Why did Furrion enter the custom integration channel?
Furrion actually got its start in retail with our first line of outdoor TVs. Over time, we noticed custom integrators were using our TVs for both residential and commercial projects. That insight led us to develop a dedicated line of outdoor TVs tailored to the CI market — with features and specs designed specifically for pro installations.
CE Pro: What differentiates Furrion?
Furrion’s value proposition is a key differentiator. We focus on delivering affordable outdoor technology without sacrificing quality or functionality. Our goal was to narrow the price gap between indoor and outdoor TVs, making them more accessible for end users while helping our customers drive incremental business. For example, many of our TVs now include XtremeShield impact-resistant screens and RangeXtend Wi-Fi-boosting antennas for better durability and optimal streaming performance.
CE Pro: Are there considerations that installers often overlook?
Misleading naming conventions can cause integrators to choose the wrong TV for the application. Some so-called “Full-Sun” models can’t actually handle full sun exposure. Others aren’t bright enough or don’t meet the necessary operating temperatures. We’ve worked to eliminate that confusion by naming our products based on their intended use. For example, our new Full-Sun Pro Series is designed to perform in direct sunlight.

Furrion dealers can design true outdoor living rooms thanks to products like its Lumina solar-powered retractable awning (pictured here).

CE Pro: How does your new solar-powered awning complement your AV products?
The Lumina solar-powered retractable awning is designed for back decks and patios that are often too hot to enjoy because of direct sunlight. It creates a shaded, comfortable space where homeowners can relax, escape the sun’s harsh rays and still enjoy the outdoors. Pair it with a Furrion Aurora outdoor TV and soundbar-subwoofer combo, and you’ve got an incredible outdoor entertainment space that’s hard to beat.
CE Pro: What are some standout features of the Lumina awning?
The unique feature is that it’s solar powered. A small, discreet solar panel — just 24 inches long by 3 inches wide — drives the internal 12-volt motor. It’s a great solution for energy-conscious homeowners. Plus, it saves on installation costs since there’s no need to hire an electrician.
Even better, it features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and pairs with our free Furrion AwnCommand app, which makes setup quick and easy. It integrates with Alexa and Google Home for voice control. You’ll also get weather alert notifications right to your phone, and you can program the awning to set daily open/close schedules and automatically when a storm rolls in. Another key feature is the built-in wind sensor, which helps protect the awning from unexpected gusts.
CE Pro: Can you share any promotions for Lumina?
Absolutely! First, we’re offering free shipping on every Lumina awning purchase. With freight rates for awnings climbing as high as $375 to $500 for other brands, that’s a significant savings. Even more exciting, every homeowner who purchases a Furrion Lumina awning will receive a free Furrion Aurora outdoor TV — a $1,500+ retail value. Who wouldn’t love a free TV with their new outdoor setup?
