Exhibiting in booth #1320 during CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025, attendees can visit the DMF Lighting exhibit to see the company’s latest products and meet with Mike Libman, sales vice president, custom integrators. Discussing the company’s show activities, Libman took a few minutes to speak with CE Pro:

Can you briefly explain what products and other activities DMF is planning for CEDIA Expo 2025?

We’re excited to showcase our comprehensive Artafex lighting portfolio at CEDIA Expo 2025, including our Recessed, Cylinder, and Linear families. The real highlight this year is PhaseX—our breakthrough digital lighting technology that’s changing the game for integrators. PhaseX delivers individual addressability, tunable white capabilities, and precise 0.1% dimming, all while using DMX protocol over standard electrical wiring. This eliminates the complexity and cost of running additional communication wires or setting up wireless infrastructure. Because PhaseX leverages the open DMX protocol, it seamlessly integrates with any lighting control manufacturer that supports DMX, giving dealers maximum flexibility in their system designs.

What are some of the common mistakes that dealers can make when specifying lighting solutions and how can DMF help dealers avoid these pitfalls?

The biggest mistake I see is rushing to product selection without leading with design intent. Too many projects start with “what fixtures do I need?” instead of “what experience am I trying to create?” Thoughtful specification and strategic placement are absolutely critical to delivering the sophisticated lighting experiences luxury clients expect.

What are some of the trends that DMF is seeing through its product sales and how is the company helping dealers to take advantage of these consumer trends?

Today’s luxury homeowners are becoming more sophisticated about lighting quality—they understand the difference between good and great. They’re asking for superior color rendering, refined trim aesthetics, smooth dimming performance, and effective glare control. More importantly, they want adaptive lighting systems that adjust intensity and color temperature based on daily activities and time of day.

This elevated client literacy creates both an opportunity and a responsibility for integrators. You need lighting solutions that match the fit and finish of luxury homes while delivering the performance these discerning clients expect. The DMF Lighting Artafex portfolio is specifically designed to meet these demands, combining thoughtful design aesthetics with the technical performance that creates truly transformative lighting experiences.

One of the company’s newer product solutions is the PhaseX series of products, can you explain how these products help dealers meet their clients’ lighting objectives?

Artafex PhaseX represents a fundamental shift in how we approach digital lighting. Traditionally, the advanced features clients want—like tunable white and individual fixture control—came with significant deployment complexity and cost barriers. Many integrators avoided digital lighting altogether because of the infrastructure requirements.

The DMF Lighting PhaseX changes that equation entirely. You get all the sophisticated features of digital lighting—individual addressability, tunable white, precision dimming—but with the simplicity of a traditional lighting installation. No additional wiring, no wireless infrastructure headaches. This opens up digital lighting opportunities for many more projects while making deployment straightforward for integrators. The result is smoother job sites and more dynamic lighting experiences that truly differentiate your projects.

Focusing on one other recent product release, what are some of the ways that dealers can use the Artafex Linear product line?

Linear lighting creates stunning architectural effects, but traditionally it’s been a specification and installation nightmare. We completely reimagined the approach with our modular Artafex Linear system. Our snap-together design uses 1-foot, 2-inch, and 1-inch sections that dramatically simplify both specification and installation.

The real game-changer is our 48-volt system architecture, which allows drivers to be located up to 200 feet away from fixtures. This solves one of integrators’ biggest pain points—finding cabinet and closet space for drivers in luxury homes where every cubic inch is precious. We’re also announcing at CEDIA that Artafex Linear will be available with PhaseX technology, giving dealers a unified digital platform to control linear, recessed, and cylinder fixtures seamlessly.

Circling back to an earlier question, looking beyond some of the common mistakes that dealers can potentially make when offering lighting systems, what types of support services does the company offer to ensure dealers can thrive selling its products?

We’ve built our dealer support around the real challenges integrators face in the field. Our Lighting Application services cover both interior and exterior projects, providing the design expertise that helps you win more sophisticated clients.

The Portal Configurator streamlines the entire specification process. Instead of digging through catalogs and part numbers, you make design choices and the system automatically generates accurate part numbers and pricing for proposals and orders. You can organize everything by project and release materials for rough-in and finish phases separately, while maintaining complete visibility into what was ordered and when. It’s designed to make your business more efficient and professional.

Our staging service is a project management game-changer—we label products by fixture type and location, making it simple to get the right fixtures to the right places during installation. This eliminates job site confusion and keeps projects on schedule.
