Soft, Ambient Light and Rich Sound Flood a Scenic Riverfront Retreat in Dublin, Ohio

Hidden Creek Landscaping and Coastal Source transform a Dublin, Ohio property along the Scioto River into a scenic riverfront retreat.

Set along the banks of the Scioto in Dublin, Ohio, this 1.5-acre riverfront property already offered breathtaking views and strong architectural features, but for the homeowners, the goal was to create a scenic retreat that reflected the casual, relaxed lifestyle of life along the water, one where indoor comfort and outdoor living could blend.

To bring that vision to life, the homeowners partnered with Hidden Creek Landscaping, one of Ohio’s premier luxury landscape design firms, along with Coastal Source.

The estate already included an infinity-edge pool aligned with the river, a hot tub, fire features and several outdoor kitchens, but Hidden Creek’s challenge was to find what Coastal Source’s team described as a “rhythm” between spaces.

Hidden Creek extended interior finishes onto patios and poolscapes, blurring the line between the home and the landscape while Coastal Source lighting and audio systems were then integrated across the property.

Lighting Weaves into the Ohio Landscape

Rather than relying on utilitarian fixtures, Hidden Creek wove lighting into the landscape itself. Traditional path lights discreetly line walkways while curved and square fixtures highlight transitions and edges.

Wash lights were tucked into stonework to softly illuminate architectural features, while tree lights create dramatic canopy effects overhead. Well lights add subtle uplighting to plantings and hardscape, completing a layered scheme that makes the property feel both safe and enchanting.

“When we turned the lighting off during installation, the homeowners immediately understood the difference,” said Jason Cromley, CEO of Hidden Creek. “With it, the outdoors became magnetic. Without it, the spaces faded away.”

Because the homeowners already rely on Sonos indoors, Hidden Creek worked to make sure that a similar experience extended outdoors as well.

Coastal Source’s outdoor systems made it possible to carry music and media from inside to outside without interruptions, app-switching, or loss of quality, so the group stuck with those as their choice for audio distribution outdoors.

Four Coastal Source Razor 220 speakers in white were retrofitted onto the deck to provide crisp, even coverage, while four 10.0 three-way Bollard speakers were anchored to the fire pit and outdoor kitchen zones.

Coastal Source’s SAS600/4 and CRS700/4 amplifiers power both sections, which give the homeowners zoned control to customize ambiance for different spaces and occasions.

Today, the riverfront estate serves as a destination for its homeowners. Family gatherings, milestone celebrations and simple everyday moments unfold between the home’s twin hosting spaces, reflecting not only the beauty of its riverfront setting but the lifestyle aspirations of the people who call it home.
