Samsung releases its largest 4K display to date. Quantum Media Systems debuts its 8K native video wall. And SKYWORTH expands its Canvas series with an ‘Elite’ update. This week’s Playback sure did turn into the march of the TVs as we knuckle down with all the releases coming in for CEDIA Expo 2025.
But we’ll get into that stuff soon enough.
For now, let’s talk about retirement plans. Not your retirement plan if you’re of that age, I mean client retirement plans. We’re in peak 65 for the baby boomer generation which means the largest chunk of the cohort will be retiring in the next few years, and if statistics are anything to go by, it’s likely your clients of that age want to age-in-place.
Enter FutureCare Solutions Group, the sister company of Global Wave Integration (run by Kyle Steele), who just came out with one of the more unique products in recent memory: a custom driver for Crestron Home that can aggregate sensor data from the home into a complete, presentable dashboard meant for aging-in-place caregivers.
The system is intended to help seniors live independently with minimal intrusion while giving families and caregivers those actionable insights for making health-related decisions, if need be, positioning FutureCare as one of the first to deliver a dedicated aging-in-place solution tailored for the professional integration market.
Something to keep in mind for when those requests start rolling around. Or maybe now’s the time to start those conversations with clients.
Getting back to that display news, though, it really seems everyone’s trying to outdo one another here. SKYWORTH, the makers of The Frame competitor, Canvas, recently announced the Elite series, which, once again, follows in the footsteps of Samsung’s move earlier this year announcing The Frame Pro.
Samsung, meanwhile, followed up on its RGB TV release from last week with the announcement of a new, massive 115-inch QNED TV. Like with Samsung’s other TV releases this year, this new model will also be coming equipped with the company’s advanced AI image processing and enhancement suite.
There’s also Quantum Media Systems who just announced its first native 8K and DCI-compliant video wall. The company says its specially designed for luxury applications, and with the company offering white glove installation services on top of the product, it is most certainly a product geared towards the upper echelons of cinema enthusiasts.
Lastly, there’s the other Playback—Playback Distribution—who had some big news this week as well, netting exclusive U.S. distribution rights for the subwoofer brand Velodyne Acoustics. That partnership will actually be on display at CEDIA Expo 2025, so if you happen to be at the show, that’ll be your chance to see the products in person.
That’s it for what we’re seeing in the space this week. We’ll provide the links to the article below in case you wanted to explore any of these stories more in-depth. For now, this has been this week in Playback (not distribution) and we’ll see you on the next go around.
