Sony Electronics Inc. is expanding its lineup of LED walls with the debut of its high-performance Crystal LED CAPRI series.
According to Sony, the CAPRI models are targeted to a broad range of customers looking to cost-effectively support virtual production applications, including television, feature films, commercials, and broadcast, as well as for rental and staging purposes. In short, Sony states the CAPRI series are meant to support the high picture quality synonymous with the company at a more accessible price.

Sony also states that the CAPRI Series are meant to complement its flagship Crystal LED VERONA product line, as the CAPRI series use the same controllers and feature similar luminance as VERONA. This also makes it so the CAPRI LED wall can be used together with the VERONA LED wall in different configurations, such as having the VERONA as the main wall of a video shoot and the CAPRI on the ceiling.
While mainly geared toward commercial and video production studios at the moment, it is not out of the ordinary for these types of technologies to eventually make their way into the residential space over time, as has been seen in instances like Samsung’s The Wall, which itself originally started as a purely commercial solution before finding itself being installed in people’s homes. No news as to if the technology used in the CAPRI series might make its way into higher-end residential offerings has been given, however.
The global electronics company does say the new CAPRI product line is capable of achieving a maximum brightness of 1,500 cd/m2 with a 2.50mm LED pitch size that’s further. Sony goes on to state the product line’s key features include high refresh rates (up to 7,680Hz) and brightness levels; a wide color gamut ( 98% of DCI-P3), and anti-reflection. Additional benefits include installation flexibility, familiar structure, streamlined maintenance, and compatibility with Sony’s ecosystem of virtual production technologies. The new models, ZRD-VS25FB and ZRD-VS25FM, are compatible with the Brompton controller and the Megapixel controller, respectively.
Sony CAPRI Series Modularity Adds Flexibility to Installations
Sony also states the CAPRI series also takes advantage of recent installation advancements to ensure fast and efficient setup. Offering a 1:1 cabinet optimized for temporary installations, such as virtual production stages, the models can quickly and easily be assembled and dismantled using locating pins for simple alignment and a tool-free lever locking mechanism.
Furthermore, the Crystal LED’s modular nature allows for it to be set up in varying sizes and configurations, including stacked, hung, curved, or oval installation thanks to a stronger frame supporting additional weight. Edge protection plates and pin slides also reduce damage and wear and tear on parts.
Through alignment with Brompton’s Tessera SX40 and Megapixel’s HELIOS, the CAPRI models maintain control using the same familiar tools and interfaces already commonly deployed in the industry, alleviating the need for additional training and maximizing uptime. The CAPRI series also features LED module blocks that can be changed from the rear and feature status indication lights for easily identifying which blocks need service, making maintenance on the devices much easier.
The CAPRI series are also poised to benefit from Sony’s Virtual Production Tool Set, which feature tools like the Color Calibrator, a Camera and Display Plugin and an Off-axis color shift compensation capability planned for fall 2025.
The CAPRI Series is expected to be available this winter. A sample of the CAPRI will be on display June 11-13 at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando in Sony’s booth #2001 during the show.
