In celebration of its flagship Sonesse 30 PoE motor, Somfy is challenging integrators to a hands-on test of skill integrating the company’s product into a Control4 smart home platform. The company will be hosting this challenge while at CEDIA Expo 2025 out of booth #3412, with two commissioning stations present: one for practice and the other dedicated for the competition.
Sonesse 30 and 40 PoE Motors on Display
The compact Sonesse 30 PoE motor fits in most modest-sized windows and receives both power and control signals over a single Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for dedicated AC or DC wiring.
According to the Somfy, this drastically reduces labor, installation time, and cost, while freeing up integration with IP-based smart home systems, which the competition seeks to highlight for both the Sonesse 30, as well as its larger cousin, the Sonesse 40.
Both Sonesse PoE motors feature soft start/stop, adjustable speed, and seamless integration with third-party control systems using the Somfy Synergy API. Built-in safety and security protocols, modern encryption standards, and IEEE-compliant power negotiation ensure optimal performance and device protection.
The Contest Details
Systems integrators can visit the booth at any time on Day 1 and 2 of Expo to test and hone their skills while a live leaderboard will post top times. In addition to bragging rights, the company says the fastest will receive select prizes that will be disclosed while at the show.

In addition to the PoE Commissioning Contest, Somfy will unveil the Glydea ULTRA 50 WireFree Zigbee drapery motor, a solution it describes as an elegant, high-performance solution tailored for Pinch Pleat, Ripple Fold, and Accordia drapery styles.
