Savant, by way of Chief Commercial Officer JC Murphy, is joining the Consumer Technology Association’s Smart Home Division Board.

According to CTA, its Smart Home Division focuses on advancing the smart home category by driving awareness, demand, and innovation across the industry. The division represents a broad ecosystem that includes manufacturers, integrators, distributors, and startups, with an emphasis on collaboration and advocacy to support industry growth and consumer adoption.

“We are thrilled that Savant is joining CTA’s Smart Home Division Board,” says Melissa Matalon, vice president of membership at CTA. “As a recognized leader in both smart home and smart power solutions, Savant will help CTA and our members continue to drive innovation in smart home technologies and shape the future of the industry.”

“As more consumers purchase smart home technologies for the first time, it’s important to create strong experiences across the entire value chain,” Murphy says. “I’m looking forward to working with fellow board members to help ensure the industry continues to evolve and support long-term growth.”

Savant is joined on the Smart Home Division Board by Fusion Audio + Video, Amazon, InstallerNet, Beacon Technology Group, FulTech, Legrand, Future Ready Solutions, ProSource, Bethesda Systems, Lutron, Global Caché, and Logic Integration.

Other Big Changes at Consumer Technology Association

This broader industry participation comes as the Consumer Technology Association enters a new leadership phase at the executive level with the group announcing a planned leadership transition that will take effect May 1. Kinsey Fabrizio will assume the role of president and CEO while continuing to serve on CTA’s Executive Board. Longtime CTA leader Gary Shapiro will transition to executive chair, a position he has held since January 1, 2026, and will continue to lead the Executive Board and serve as a spokesperson for CTA and CES.

CTA described the transition as a continuation of long-term succession planning, emphasizing leadership continuity and organizational stability. Fabrizio, who joined CTA in 2008, has overseen strategy and growth across both CTA and CES, including expansion of CES programming, modernization of CTA’s membership structure, and advocacy efforts related to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. In 2025, she testified before Congress in support of a federal AI framework, the group said in an announcement.

Shapiro, who has led CTA for more than three decades, expanded the association’s membership, revenue, and influence alongside the growth of the global consumer technology industry. During his tenure, CTA advanced major technology initiatives, standards, and policy positions while transforming CES into the largest and most internationally attended trade show in the U.S.

According to CTA, the leadership transition is intended to support continued innovation, advocacy, and industry engagement across its divisions and boards, including the Smart Home Division, which brings together manufacturers, integrators, service organizations, and technology partners from across the residential technology ecosystem.
