Modern Atomics is adding two new power distribution units (PDUs) to its line-up with the new Neutron PDU and Tokamak power supply.
Neutron
According to Modern Atomics, Neutron Expands upon the initial design of Reaktor with a reportedly faster and more powerful energy storage system that allows it to work with Lutron and Creston as well as Matter, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave and Sub-GHz RF wireless control platforms.
Debuting last year, Modern Atomics launched its flagship Reaktor PDU for use with motorized window shades running on Somfy motors. Upon release, Reaktor won multiple product awards from CEDIA, Commercial Integrator, Residential Systems, and Twice.

Retailing for $1,499 MSRP, the Reaktor can power up to 22 Somfy RS485 low voltage motors—a common component used in a variety of motorized shades throughout the custom integration channel.
The new Neutron PDU also leverages Modern Atomic’s AI power supply tech, which the company says helps cut down on wasted electrical current. Allegedly, the technology is able to save hundreds of Kilowatt-hours per shade per year.
Once installed, Neutron is powered either through a passive DC injector, or a Somfy 24V inline BUS power supply connected to the shades via a CAT5 cable and RJ45. The Neutron can also be powered through Modern Atomics’ own Solar Panel Kit or through compatible Tesla Solar Roof & panels.
Tokamak
Moving on to the Tokamak power supply, Modern Atomics states it can operate as a standalone unit while also being pairable with other Reaktor, Neutron or Collider units. When assembled in the latter method on larger systems (up to 192 shades according to Modern Atomics), it harvests power and moves all DC injectors from the system.
Pricing and Availability
MSRP for the Tokamak power supply starts at $1,299 while MSRP for the Neutron PDU starts at $1,899.
Modern Atomics has also expanded its network of sales reps in response to the new product launches, bringing the company’s number of sales reps to 14 across various North American territories including the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, New England, Western Canada, TOLA and MINK regions.
