Luminii Gen 2 LEDs Revamp Strip Lighting ‘Engine’ for Architectural Applications

The new Gen 2 LED architecture adds improved color rendering and a smaller profile among other functional enhancements.

Luminii has announced the launch of its Gen 2 LED lighting platform ahead of Lightapalooza 2026, where the company plans to showcase the new update alongside several new families of strip LED lighting.

The Big Takeaway for Integrators

The Gen 2 LED platform re-engineers Luminii’s core lighting “engine” that powers most of its LED strip lights and linear fixtures. The updates, according to Luminii, are designed to make Gen 2 LEDs more flexible in both commercial and residential lighting projects.

“This is a foundational upgrade to the platform our customers rely on every day, delivering meaningful gains without adding unnecessary complexity,” explains Jeff Parker, CEO of Luminii.

Updates include 97+ CRI and 95+ R9 on Gen 2 strip lighting, added copper PCBs to reduce voltage drop over long distances, cut increments down to 0.66 inches, improved dotting with dual-CCT LED packages in Warm Dim and Tunable White strips, and new white silicone co-extrusions to enhance wet-location performance.

Luminii Gen 2 Product Launches

Alongside the new platform, Luminii is introducing five new strip families in the LineLED line (Vibrant Color 72, High Efficacy 64, Warm Dim 51, Tunable White 51 and Tunable White 51 X2 in North America) that the company says is designed to replace and consolidate previous tape generation.

Additional Product Updates to Fit with Gen 2 LEDs

As a result of the Gen 2 Launch, Luminii states all LED strip lights are now being standardized to a 10mm form factor, following a lighting trend in the shrinking of fixture footprints. Additionally, updates are being made to existing Luminii products to make them more compatible with Gen 2 product design.

A new Myka Asymmetric Surface (MKA) is being added to the portfolio for millwork and shelf applications, while the Myka family itself is seeing its Warm Dim and Tunable White LED strips being updated to the new 10 mm standard for extra compatibility.

The mCove Rectangle has also been updated to be more compatible with Gen 2 strip lighting installations.

Luminii has also expanded its digital tools, including updated power consumption calculators, dotting and compatibility tools, and refreshed specification resources to support faster, more confident design decisions.

Final Takeaways

According to Luminii, a core rational behind Gen 2 is providing a smaller profile on its strip lighting for better integration into architectural elements, with backwards compatibility to legacy products being a core concern during the design process.

Rather than further expand its existing portfolio, the update also seeks to consolidate any redundancies in the company’s product line while further streamlining the specification process with greater functionality across the core product stack that doesn’t increase the product stack.

Pricing and Availability

All Gen 2 LED strip lights and reels are available worldwide, with a phased transition plan in place to support customers migrating from previous generations throughout 2026. There are no planned price increases as part of the Gen 2 upgrade
