We’re already on the runup to CES 2026, and, kicking things off with one of the first big bits of news for the cycle, LG has officially announced its flagship RGB TV, the Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95), which will be making its appearance at the electronics show in January.
What Features the RGB evo Brings to the Table
Like other RGB TVs coming to the market, the RGB evo will leverage a backlight made up of individually controlled red, blue and green micro-LEDs capable of delivering higher color accuracy compared to conventional LED backlighting.
To give you an idea of the color accuracy, reportedly, the Micro RGB evo has been rated by Intertek for 100 percent color gamut coverage in BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB, which LG says is the highest possible color reproduction. This offers optimal accuracy for everything from digital editing and HDR cinema to next-generation display technologies. The evo also features over one thousand dimming zones to achieve a higher contrast performance among LCD TVs.
As with the other RGB TVs in the channel, the evo will also be augmented by LG’s proprietary AI processor, which it apparently has upgraded for the new TV model. Bumping it up to Gen 3, LG states the processor is now capable of simultaneously processing two different types of AI upscaling, which should allow the TV to produce sharper images while maintaining a more natural balance in color grading.
“Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display, and with the LG Micro RGB evo, we have achieved a milestone previously thought impossible for this category,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
“This launch marks the evolution of the RGB TV, redefining industry standards to offer uncompromising performance for customers who demand exceptional color accuracy.”
Beyond that, the TV will also come equipped with a variety of AI-powered features courtesy of the webOS platform, including Voice ID and an upgrade AI Concierge for exploring content.
Once available, the Micro RGB evo will be available in 100-inch, 86-inch and 75-inch sizes, though no official release date has been confirmed just yet.
LG Joins the TV Titans with Its Take on RGB
LG is not the first to announce an RGB TV, however, at this point, it may as well have been the most anticipated, as Sony had already declared it had one in production, and Samsung became the first company to officially release an RGB LED model earlier this year (it even won a BEST award).
Now all that remains to be seen is when rising competitors like Hisense and TCL will introduce their own models into the ecosystem. As of right now, neither have issued any statements regarding whether has RGB TVs in production, however, given the recent competition both have exhibited, it’s likely only a matter of time.
Where to Experience LG’s RGB evo Before Its Release
For those visiting CES 2026 this year, LG will be displaying the Micro RGB evo at booth #15004 in the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 6 – 9. In the meantime, keep CE Pro bookmarked as we start to cover more of the CES news rolling in for 2026.
