Firewalla Debuts Portable Wi-Fi 7 Firewall Built for Zero Trust Anywhere

Firewalla Orange delivers multi-gigabit Zero Trust security and Wi-Fi 7 performance in a portable form factor, the company says.
Published: December 10, 2025

Firewalla has announced Firewalla Orange, a compact multi-gigabit firewall and Wi-Fi 7 router designed to provide enterprise-grade security in both stationary and mobile environments. According to Firewalla, the new device delivers more than 2 Gbps of packet-processing performance and brings “Zero Trust anywhere,” emphasizing portability as a core differentiator.

Firewalla positions Orange as a response to the increasing need for stronger, more flexible network protection across homes, vacation properties, remote work setups and small offices. The company says the device includes intrusion prevention, microsegmentation through its VqLAN technology, device isolation, GEO-IP filtering, VLAN support and real-time threat blocking via Active Protect rules. All features operate at multi-gigabit throughput to support dense smart home ecosystems and modern bandwidth demands.

The unit includes two 2.5 GbE ports and supports up to 50 wireless clients over Wi-Fi 7. Firewalla states that the combination of multi-gigabit hardware and advanced routing features is intended to help users maintain fast, stable connectivity while layering in a full security stack. For integrators, this may present a portable option for temporary deployments, small spaces, or environments where structured wiring is limited.

Zero Trust, Temporary Networks and VPN

Firewalla highlights portability as a primary use case. When connected to public or shared Wi-Fi—such as hotels, airports, co-working spaces or client sites—the device automatically creates a private Zero Trust network perimeter around user devices. It can also tether to a phone hotspot as a backup WAN. This capability may appeal to clients who travel frequently or maintain multiple residences, as well as small teams that rely on secure remote access.

Firewalla Orange includes a VPN server supporting WireGuard and OpenVPN, along with a VPN client for selective routing, site-to-site connections and privacy protection. According to the company, these features are included without monthly subscription fees. Additional capabilities include DNS over HTTPS, Unbound DNS, NTP Intercept, ad blocking, parental controls, safe search, and AI-based device and anomaly insights.

Firewalla Orange Design, Pricing and Availability

The device measures 12.8 by 8.3 by 3 centimeters, weighs 244 grams and is powered via USB-C. Power consumption ranges from 5 to 15 watts. Firewalla states that the product is designed for mobility and can fit in a jacket pocket, enabling its role as a travel-ready security appliance.

Firewalla Orange is priced at 339 dollars with no monthly fees for standard features. Pre-sale availability begins December 9, 2025 at 9 a.m. PST for U.S. customers. The company notes that initial inventory is very limited due to DDR4 shortages.

For integrators evaluating security tools that extend beyond traditional fixed installations, Firewalla Orange introduces a portable option built around Zero Trust principles, multi-gigabit performance and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
