Devialet has announced the Phantom Ultimate collection—its latest evolution of the iconic Phantom speaker line, first introduced in 2015—with the newly unveiled loudspeaker series including two distinct models: the flagship Phantom Ultimate 108 dB ($3,800 MSRP) and the more compact 98 dB model ($1,900 MSRP).

Both now available in two refined finishes and a luxury Opéra de Paris edition adorned with 22-carat gold.

According to Devialet, the 108 dB model has been custom engineered to eliminate distortion, saturation and background noise during playback.

The 108 dB features 1,100W of total amplification power, an extended frequency response from 14 Hz to 35 kHz, and the latest generation of ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid) technology.

Complementing this are SAM (Speaker Active Matching), HBI (Heart Bass Implosion), and AVL (Adaptive Volume Level), all of which contribute to what Devialet calls a “fully immersive sound experience.”

Meanwhile, the 98 dB model offers a more compact (and slightly more affordable) entry point while still delivering 400W of amplification.

The 9 dB also features a response range down to 18 Hz, and the same hallmark technologies and software found in the larger model.

A Growing Trend of Shrinking Products

Owing to a growing “space premium” within modern-day living arrangements, manufacturers ranging from the budget to the uber luxury have begun offering scaled-down versions of flagship products to meet the needs of these environments.

Part of this stems from the growing popularity of multipurpose flex rooms that combine a variety of functions into a single space. There is also the fact that many projects integrators now work on include condos and other locations with far tighter space constraints for the systems.

New Software Architecture and Streaming Enhancements

Both models are powered by Devialet’s new DOS3 software architecture and an intelligent processor (NXP i.MX 8M Nano SoC)—a notable leap that enables Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 capabilities. Streaming support now includes AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and UPnP, aligning these newer Devialet models with the latest multiplatform streaming interoperability standards.

Luxury Finishes Tap into More Luxurious Presentation Options

The new units are also available in two core finishes—Deep Forest and Light Pearl—with a bespoke Opéra de Paris edition elevating the offering into true luxury territory. That edition incorporates 22-carat gold leaf applied by Ateliers Gohard, the same Parisian artisans who restore national monuments like the Palais Garnier.

Devialet has carved a niche for itself in the premium audio landscape with its distinctive design language, as well, with the ongoing collaboration between Devialet and the Opéra national de Paris strengthening this focus on sophisticated design.

The partnership also adds a unique twist to a prevalent trend in the smart home nowadays where certain AV products are commonly made to simulate art while not in use.
