The Sound Room portion of the CEDIA Expo has grown significantly over the past couple of years and it’s more diversified than ever. Not only can attendees see some of consumer audio’s top audio companies demonstrating their audio products, but they can also see some of the industry’s top video brands demonstrating their products.
Moreover, control, automation and smart home brands are taking advantage of the Sound Room spaces to showcase their respective technologies, which in many cases also need to be demonstrated in order for these products the be truly appreciated.
The point could be made, in fact, that attendees could visit every company in the Sound Room area of the show and walk away with a good representation of the state of the custom installation industry.
Sound Rooms Feature Who’s Who of the Custom Installation Industry
Taking a look at the companies exhibiting in the show’s Sound Room, the exhibits include manufacturers such as MartinLogan, which is famous for its electrostatic loudspeaker designs.
GoldenEar is a Mid-Atlantic based company that balances cost and performance to provide integrators with a choice of home theater and stereo loudspeaker products.
RBH is a Utah-based manufacturer that employs its signature aluminum-cone drivers in a wealth of speaker types and finishes.
Klipsch Audio is one of the oldest manufacturers in the entire world of consumer electronics and has been a leading developer of horn-loaded speaker designs for decades.
Canada’s Paradigm Electronics has brought the engineering concepts researched by its country’s famous National Research Council (NRC) to mainstream consumers.
Pro Audio Technology was one of the first companies to bring the commercial cinema audio experience to the consumer market, and today the company’s products provides a wide selection of home theater products.
At CEDIA Expo 2018 Pro Audio Technology’s Paul Hales launched Theory Audio Design. Hales’ new audio company offers many of the same engineering goals as Pro Audio Technology, but its products feature industrial designs that better complement today’s home interiors.
MBL North America has been a fixture at high-end audio events for many years. Exhibiting at CEDIA Expo, the European-based company shows that its product line complements the lifestyles of today’s multimedia households.
PMC Speakers are a fixture in recording studios across the globe. Used by some of the top recording engineers and musicians in the world, PMC’s product line can also be used to provide homeowners with a studio-quality home theater that rivals Capital Studios’ Studio C’s Dolby Atmos capabilities.
Seymour-Screen Excellence makes an array of acoustically transparent screen products that are compatible with today and tomorrow’s formats, including 4K, 8K and HDR.
Xperi, the parent company of DTS, is of course, the developer of the immersive audio format DTS:X, and the Play-Fi wireless audio platform.
RTI develops a range of custom-installation specific control and signal distribution products. RTI is most famous for its selection of customizable interface products.
Another company that’s come over to the residential market from the pro audio industry is Alcons Audio. Alcons Audio manufactures products that address sound reinforcement and commercial cinema applications. The company’s residential products are capable of delivering Hollywood post-production experiences in the home.
Starke Sound blends contemporary industrial designs with high-performance audio engineering technologies to enable integrators to assemble state-of-the-art home theaters and stereo systems.
Arguably the highest-profile exhibitor at the entire show, Google will have a huge presence. Not only will the company showcase its smart home products that include Google Assistant and Nest products, but it will also take part in the show’s Tech Talks discussion panel on Thursday, Sept. 12.
SIM2 is an Italian manufacturer of high-performance video products. Historically the company has combined its elegant Italian industrial designs with the latest in DLP technologies to offer integrators standout projection solutions.
McIntosh is perhaps the most famous consumer audio company on the planet. McIntosh’s products have been used to power everything from the Woodstock Festival in 1969 to some of the Grateful Dead’s most famous shows in the 1970s. McIntosh has gained its fame, through its highly collectible classic tube amplifier designs.
Sonus faber is similar to SIM2 in that it offers a combination of elegant Italian industrial design, and state-of-the-art technological audio designs. The company’s Sonetto product line is a must-see for integrators.
Rounding out the Italian trio of manufacturers in the Sound Rooms is HTE Acoustic Interior Design. HTE supports integrators with a choice of acoustical panel products and acoustical design services.
The best thing to do while at CEDIA Expo 2019 is to visit these manufacturers and take part in their demonstrations.
