Josh.ai has broadened its smart home ecosystem with the addition of native Shade Innovations (SI) support through both direct wired and wireless TRO.Y IP Bridge shade integrations.
The integration provides full feature parity for SI shades across Josh.ai’s app and natural-language voice interfaces, including percentage-based positioning for both horizontal and vertical styles of shading.
According to Josh, after authorization within Josh.ai’s NIMBLE DevSuite, the TRO.Y IP Gateways will automatically populate in the Josh.ai web portal. The system then discovers the Shade Innovations configuration and programming automatically, which Josh states works to reduce setup complexity and shorten the gap between commissioning and final testing.
On the end-user side, the integration aims to enhance day-to-day interaction with personalized control options. Homeowners can adjust individual shades through granular device controllers in the Josh App, build custom scenes to match preferred lighting conditions or issue contextual voice commands throughout the home (i.e. “Hey Josh, close the west blackout shades after sunset” or “Hey Josh, dim the lights, draw the sheers, and watch Netflix”).
Josh.ai CEO Alex Capecelatro states that the partnership continues the company’s broader initiative to expand system compatibility across key categories within the smart home.
“Our partnerships are extremely important as we recommend innovative solutions to our customers,” he stated, emphasizing the goal of delivering a “magical experience” for users through cohesive system design.
Shade Innovations CEO Ryan Gustafson noted that native Josh.ai control has been a long-standing request among dealers, underscoring desire to simplify the setup of complex systems. He describes the integration as a direct response to partners seeking tighter interoperability and smoother deployment workflows.
The integration is available now within the Josh.ai ecosystem.
