The fusion of functionality looks to create a singular mood product that can dynamically change based on the energy and performance of music.

Among the many brands looking to develop dynamic lighting products that will create unique visual environments in response to music, Govee has joined the ranks with its Table Lamp 2 Pro, with audio provided by Harman’s JBL.

Designed standalone product, the Table Lamp 2 Pro features an LED unit integrated with a 2.5-inch 500cc speaker and JBL’s equalizer algorithm. The unit can be paired with one more, however, using a 5.8Ghz Wi-Fi stereo connection to create a stereo sound system, according to Govee.

According to the company, the unit reacts to music in 32 milliseconds using its 210 individually customisable RGBICWW LED beads. The lamp also integrates with Alexa, Google Assistant and Matter for convenient voice control.

Outside of the music, the lamp is also fully color tunable, providing 600 lumens of brightness and a color temperature range of 2700K to 6500K.

In the past, other smart lighting products, such as those manufactured by Philips Hue, have sought to merge lighting and music to meld mood and environmental systems in the home through integrations with Samsung’s Galaxy Music. Ikea and Sonos also came together on a similar product in the form of the Symfonisk speaker lamp, though this collaboration offered more siloed functions, merely allowing the lamp to double as a floorstanding speaker in the home.

This trend seems to be largely centered around consumer products, however, in the case of professional gym settings, the ability to sync music cues to lighting have been met with great enthusiasm, though these systems generally consist of larger, custom fixtures set throughout a space.
