Josh Christian has joined home systems design firm Axiom Design as business development manager. Christian was a long-time marketing exec at DSI Entertainment, which became part of the mega-merger VIA International in 2013. His position was eliminated this year as part of that merger.

Based in Pleasanton, Calif., Axiom was founded more than 20 years ago by Bob Kranson.

Whole-house audio manufacturer, Russound announced an expansion of its sales team with the appointment of John Trimbach as Western Region sales manager.

Trimbach, a consumer electronics industry veteran, most recently served as director of sales for Sookbox, and, prior to that, Autonomic Controls. Earlier positions include VP sales/partner at Niveus Media and Partner in Trimbach Associates, a sales representative company based in Mass.

Atlona, an A/V connectivity solutions company announced the hiring of Michael Cellura as a regional sales manager for its commercial team. Cellura is based in Austin, Texas and will be responsible for managing Atlona’s commercial sales representatives, direct dealers, and distribution partners in the Central region of the United States.


KanexPro announced that Matthew Bute has joined the company to help develop its portfolio of national and international accounts. Bute comes to KanexPro with years of industry experience, including the past two years at Altona Technologies as director of global sales, and prior to that he was at Clare Controls as director of channel sales.

In his new role at KanexPro Bute will serve as vice president of sales and marketing for the Brea, Calif.-based company.

AVnu Alliance, the industry consortium driving open standards-based deterministic networking through certification, joined engineers, integrators, product managers and executives from around the world at the inaugural conference on Time Sensitive Networking and Applications (TSNA), on April 28 and 29 in Santa Clara, Calif., for a multi-day series of technical tracks aimed at educating and generating awareness for emerging Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards. During this event the group named its newly elected officers for the alliance board of directors.

Gary Stuebing, manager of engineering, IoT standards/architecture at Cisco, was elected as the new AVnu Alliance president, and Kevin Stanton, senior principal engineer at Intel was named AVnu Alliance chairman.

In addition, AVnu Alliance has also added a seat on its board, which was filled by Todd Walter, senior group manager at National Instruments.

Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) has announced that Peter Weedfald has been named senior vice president of sales for Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA). In this role Weedfald will oversee U.S. and Latin America sales of Sharp’s consumer electronics, which includes TV, audio and the home appliance categories. Weedfald’s start date will be June 1 and he will report to Jim Sanduski, president, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America.

Bob Ozer has been promoted to director of regional sales at Kaleidescape. He serves the Southeast including Florida, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia and DC. Ozer has worked at Kaleidescape for 11 years as account manager. Previously he was an account manager for Sony.

Anthony Grimani announces the appointment of Rick Huggins as general manager for PMI Engineering and MSR Acoustics. In this post, Huggins will run operations of both companies, overseeing operations, direct sales, client relations, and marketing. Huggins brings 15 years of experience in the A/V industry, from retail sales to systems integration, and national account management. He spent five years at Klipsch Group, Inc., managing accounts in the western U.S., then key national accounts, growing the business by double-digits each year.

Previously, Huggins worked for Advanced Electronic Systems, one of the largest electronic systems integrators in San Diego, where he designed and installed A/V systems, home security, CCTV, network solutions and creating seamless home automation for residential and commercial applications.

Genelec Inc., the U.S. subsidiary and distributor for Genelec Active Monitors, announces the appointment of Chicago-based firm Frequency Sales as manufacturer’s representative for its professional products, serving Illinois and Wisconsin. Company founder and president Gene Williams and the rest of his team will work closely with Genelec U.S. sales personnel in spearheading Genelec sales and increasing market share in the region.

ProSource, a national integration, audio, and video buying group, has announced the appointment of Kathleen Marini as its new director of marketing communications. Marini was the former director of marketing for HTSA. Her experience also includes channel communications and marketing management for the ProAV and specialty distribution channels via her tenure with NEC Technologies.

The audio manufacturer Sennheiser announced that it has appointed Tim Schuette to vice president, global sales, system integration (SI). Schuette, an industry veteran with over 15 years of management experience, will be based in Germany and report directly to John C. Falcone, senior vice-president of Sennheiser’s systems solutions channel. In his new role, Schuette will oversee Sennheiser SI sales teams located in North America, Western Europe, Central Europe and Northern Europe.

Anuva Automation, the Florida-based manufacturer of TiO brand automation products, announces the appointment of Neil Grosse as Technical Support Manager. Grosse has more than ten years of experience designing and installing middle to high end automation and control systems. Video Mount Products (VMP) has named Tom Shankle sales manager, effective immediately.

Icontrol has promoted two execs to its leadership team. Letha McLaren will lead Icontrol’s product and marketing initiatives as chief marketing officer (CMO), and Corey Gates will oversee technology across all business units as chief technology officer (CTO). Formerly serving as the vice president of product management at Icontrol, McLaren has more than 15 years of diverse marketing, product development and business leadership experience in the technology and energy industries. Gates has more than 20 years of experience managing both hardware and software product lifecycles, and previously served as the senior vice president of engineering at Icontrol.

CEDIA has announced the panel of judges that will evaluate the home technology professional categories in the 2015 Electronic Lifestyles Awards. Unveiling the judging panel was one of the key changes adopted for the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Awards with the input of members and the board of directors.

"We are thrilled to let the industry know who the 2015 judges are, not only to be more transparent about the awards program but also to recognize the volunteers who lend CEDIA their time and expertise to evaluate these projects," says Dennis Erskine, vice chairman of the CEDIA board and Electronic Lifestyles Awards co-chair.

Azione Unlimited (AU), the education and buying group for custom retailers and integrators, has announced the addition of five new dealer members. According to Azione, 93 percent of the organization’s dealers are integrators and seven percent are custom retailers. Azione Unlimited also points out that 85 percent of its dealers have never been in a buying group prior to joining Azione, and it adds that of the five new members, two were previously in other groups.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced its 2015 class of inductees into the Consumer Electronics (CE) Hall of Fame at its annual Digital Patriot’s Dinner. The CE Hall of Fame created in 2000 honors visionaries in the consumer technology industry who have advanced innovation and developed a foundation for the consumer technologies we enjoy today and others yet to come.

“The 2015 class upholds the best tradition of the CE Hall of Fame program, inspiring us with their vision, passion and dedication,” says Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “I am honored to recognize this group of leaders that has brought innovative products and services to consumers, thereby changing our world.”

The 2015 CE Hall of Fame honorees include company founders and inventors, those who promote technology, and the retailers that market and deliver products to consumers. Here are the 2015 inductees:

  • Robert L. Borchardt, as president and CEO of Recoton, he helped elevate accessories to a profit center for retailers. He grew his company's revenue from $3 million to just under $1 billion, establishing Recoton as a global leader in the CE industry.
  • Tom Campbell began his career in the early 1970s doing radio ads for Cal Stereo. He went on to become a leading consumer electronics retail executive and consultant who helped many retailers grow and succeed as well as launch numerous new technologies and products.
  • George Feldstein brought together integrated system controls for audio and video distribution, lighting, HVAC, home theater systems, intercom and video security through the company he founded above a New Jersey delicatessen, Crestron Electroincs.
  • As founding chairman of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group for Wireless LANs, Vic Hayes led the seven-year effort to tame the wild west of incompatible and competing wireless protocols and shepherded spectrum allocation issues to establish the Wi-Fi standard, earning him the nickname the "Father of Wi-Fi."
  • Noel Lee, founder of Monster Inc. and the self-described “Head Monster,” established the high-end audio then high-end video interconnection market, as well as introducing the Beats headphone line. He has been arguably the industry's most enthusiastic evangelist for improving consumers' audio and video enjoyment through accessories.
  • As its first director of marketing and later president, Bernie Mitchell helped build Pioneer America into one of the largest marketers of audio products in the U.S., growing from $2 million in sales a year from selling seven products to selling 125 products and generating $238 million per annum.
  • Pioneering psychoacoustic engineer Dr. Floyd Toole proved via measurements and scientific methodology what constituted "good" sound. As a result of his work, several generations of speaker makers changed how they designed their products, and his measurement methods have been codified into an industry standard.
  • Wilfred Schwartz founded and built one of the nation’s largest regional consumer electronics retail chains, the Federated Group, which grew from a single store in Southern California to more than 90 locations across four states in less than 20 years.


BrandSource CEO Jim Ristow has promoted two members of his executive team as part of an overall strategy to offer the merchandising group’s 4,000-plus members a variety of new opportunities for growth. Tom Bennett, former vice president of sales, has been named president, and John White, former executive vice president of BrandSource and Expert Warehouse, is now chief marketing officer and executive vice president of Appliances.

The digital audio manufacturer Aurender has appointed John-Paul Lizars as its new director of sales and marketing.

Lizars, a long-time industry veteran will be responsible for sales support and marketing initiatives and the company's brand building goals. Prior to his appointment with Aurender, Lizars was employed with the San Fransisco-based high-performance A/V import/distribution company Sumiko.

Kwikset, a manufacturer of residential security products, announced that its SmartCode 914 Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt with Home Connect technology has been added to Comcast’s Xfinity Home platform. The first lock included in Xfinity Home, the SmartCode 914 deadbolt will allow customers to lock and unlock their doors remotely by using the Xfinity Home app or via their Internet-connected smartphone, tablet or computer.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced Daniel Pidgeon, chairman of its Board of Leaders (BIL), and chairman of the custom installation company Starpower, has appointed six industry professionals to fill vacancies within the BIL.

Torus Power, a subsidiary of Plitron Manufacturing, and a manufacturer of isolation transformer–based power components, announced that Karma AV will be its new distributor in the United Kingdom (U.K.), selling and supporting Torus’s high-performance toroidal power isolation products to local U.K. integrators.

Torus Power products isolate components from the grid to deliver better video quality and a much lower noise floor in installations of all sizes, enabling integrators an enhanced offering that’s highly differentiated in the marketplace.


Channel Vision, has announced the addition of Robin Orman as its South Central sales representative. Orman will be responsible for accounts in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.


The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) has named Jay Hauhn as its new executive director.

Luxul, a manufacturer of IP networking solutions for custom-installation professionals has announced two new staff additions to the channel sales team. Keith Ebert has joined Luxul as channel sales director for security applications, and Steven Scharp will take on the same role with the company, but with a focus on the A/V market.

Ebert brings vast experience working with distribution and dealer channels to Luxul, including previous career stops at Honeywell Security, Winland Electronics and ADT.

Scharp has worked in the custom-installation industry since 1998, starting off as an integrator and later moving to the manufacturing side of the business. Scharp has built and sold two successful companies within the market, and has been a hired as a consultant for several manufacturers, including Sherbourn, DesignQ, Atlona, and Just-Add-Power.

Expanding its focus on solutions to support the “Internet of Things”(IoT), ihiji adds Joseph Kolchinsky, founder and managing director of OneVision, to its board of directors. Bringing a highly valued perspective, Kolchinsky’s appointment supports the expansion of ihiji's invision service to better support technology professionals, managed service providers and IT service desks.

Two Control4 (Nasdaq: CTRL) board members, investors Len Jordan and Steven Vassallo, have announced they are resigning their positions, effective immediately following the company's annual meeting of stockholders, currently scheduled to be held on April 28, 2015. Their terms were scheduled to expire in 2017. According to Control4, "Neither Mr. Vassallo's nor Mr. Jordan's departure is due to a disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company's operations, policies, or practices."

Even so, CTRL stock tumbled 5.2% on the news.

A search is currently underway for replacement directors with applicable industry experience and broad operating capability, and Control4 will make an announcement when the board has elected any new directors.

Vaddio has announced that Adrian Torres will cover its West Coast sales. Torres brings over 15 years of experience in A/V technology for manufacturers including Crestron and Extron to the company.

The digital home entertainment manufacturer Kaleidescape has appointed Mark Weisenberg as its new vice president of sales. Weisenberg brings many years of custom installation market experience to the manufacturer, and he will be based in California.

iRoom, a manufacturer of motorized Docks for Apple's iPad, has expanded its U.S. manufacturer's representative network. Over the past several months eight firms have been placed online by the Austrian brand's U.S. division, and the firms hired include

The British loudspeaker manufacturer PMC has boosted its sales team with the appointment of Chris Allen, who joins the company as export sales manager for its pro audio product range of products.


Atlona, a manufacturer of connectivity solutions, has promoted Amelia Vrabel to the position of national sales manager for the commercial market. Vrabel previously served as the company’s regional commercial sales manager for the Central U.S.


The St. Louis, Mo.-based OEM and distributor Skywalker AV Supply has named Bob Holliday to the position of national sales manager.

Skywalker AV Supply says that Holliday will be responsible for expanding the sales of its custom installation products in new markets across the U.S. In addition, the Midwestern company points out, Holliday will take a leading role in the creation of a new rewards program for Skywalker's dealer base, and he will also play a part in helping the company to expand its product line.

Gemsen has been appointed as the exclusive Canadian distributor for Wireworld Cable Technology products, a manufacturer of audio and video cables.

Wireworld Cable Technology was founded by David Salz in 1992. The company designs and manufactures digital and analog cable technology for home audio and video, including HDMI and USB A/V, as well as interconnects and speaker cables.

Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC) announced that Mark Viken, vice president of marketing for Sharp Electronics, Marketing Company of America (SEMCA) is now responsible for U.S. product and brand marketing of Sharp's consumer products. This includes audio and video categories, as well as appliances and health and environment-related products. Sharp states that Viken will report to Jim Sanduski, president, Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America.

NEAR, a division of Bogen Communications, Inc., announced the relocation of Bogen’s three key operational units from a consolidated facility in Ramsey, N.J., to three separate new facilities. The moves are part of the company’s strategy for responding to and building on its growth over the past few years. NEAR dealers, distributors, and end users, as well as those of the other brands under the Bogen corporate umbrella, Bogen and Apogee, are expected to benefit from the new locations.

The company has relocated its warehouse, manufacturing and factory service to Memphis, Tenn. Bogen states its new facility is named the Katherine L. Fields Distribution & Operations Center in honor of its longest tenured employee who worked at the company for 66 years.

Bogen has moved its R&D to Orlando, Fla., and it states that its headquarters and sales operate out of a more "appropriately sized" suite of offices in Mahwah, N.J.

Transformative Engineering, a Massachusetts manufacturer of A/V connectivity solutions, has selected Aim High Audio Sales & Distribution of Marietta, Ga., as its manufacturer’s representatives for the Southeastern region of the United States, including Florida.


D-Tools Inc., a developer of custom installation business management software announced that the company has appointed Aim High Audio as a manufacturer’s representative. Under the agreement, Aim High Audio will act as an extension of the D-Tools sales and marketing team for the Southeastern region of the United States. Aim High Audio represents residential, commercial, house of worship, landscape and digital signage brands, bringing a team of industry experts to each of its clients and dealers.

B&W Group USA has announced the appointment of consumer electronics industry veteran Stacey Kerek as the company’s new Vice President, Operations. She brings a wealth of experience in the consumer electronics industry with a strong focus on operations. During her career, she worked with Lenbrook Industries for 25 years eventually becoming Chief Operating Officer. She then joined Tivoli Audio as VP of Operations and later was appointed President and COO.

Encore Custom AV, winner of CEA’s 2015 Integrator of the Year Award and Best Home Theater, has opened a brand new, state-of-the-art showroom in its headquarters in Sterling, Va.

The 4,500 sq. ft. space has a design center and a high-performance, professional home cinema that includes a Dolby Atmos system, media room and conference room. Focusrite Novation Inc., the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of the U.K.-based manufacturer Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd., announces several new appointments. The announcement was made by Phil Wagner, president of Focusrite Novation Inc., and the appointments were made to support the brands' ongoing growth and expansion in the U.S.

Industry veteran Michael Prager has joined Focusrite Novation Inc. as Focusrite national sales manager. Prager comes to Focusrite with years of experience in pro audio. He was most recently with Adam Audio as their director of sales. Prior to that, Prager was the Guitar Center recording category manager.

Additionally, Nick De Friez has been appointed Novation’s sales manager. Prior to joining Novation, De Friez worked for the DJ audio software company Serato.
