Distribution of AV over IP has now become a whole lot clearer for both residential and commercial applications with WyreStorm’s new 4K evolution of its award-winning NetworkHD™ AV over IP line.
The 400 Series was developed to offer integrators more than currently available on the market – both in terms of features, functionality, scalability and reliability as well as speed and ease of installation and at a price point that increases the viability of AV over IP as a distribution technology. James Meredith, WyreStorm NetworkHD and Enado Product Manager, states: “With the 400 Series intended for applications where low latency, multi-channel audio and our highest quality picture with HDR is essential, we feel we have a solution that addresses all our customers’ AV over IP installation needs.” Meredith continued, “When combined with our groundbreaking free NetworkHD Touch™ app for iPad, we are confident that the 400 Series NetworkHD 4K systems deliver best-in-class picture, sound and ease of use that our customers expect and deserve.”
Supporting HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and all SD, HD and UHD video formats, including interlaced content, 400 Series encoders and decoders handle the delivery of stunning, visually lossless 4K UHD with HDR content and multichannel audio up to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with ease, making it ideal for AV distribution around the home.
Mixing the latest 4K displays and older 1080p screens around the home will never be a problem either for a NetworkHD 400 Series system. Powerful image scaling features enable 400 Series decoders to automatically scale incoming video signals to match the maximum capability of the connected display device to support a combination of 4K and 1080p displays throughout an installation. This is ever more important in the modern multi-room AV distribution where an integrator or client might not need 4K screens in every room or want to throw out perfectly good 1080p screens just to support the distribution. With the 400 Series, you’ll never have to.
Improving on the low bandwidth H.264 platform NetworkHD 100 and 200 Series solutions, the 400 Series features JPEG2000 compression and the latest generation AV technology to increase image quality and content security with 128bit AES end-to-end content encryption, whilst almost eliminating end-to-end latency for an unsurpassed viewer experience.
Unlike a traditional fixed matrix, the adaptable modular matrix design of NetworkHD allows for a system to be expanded quickly and easily by simply adding more sources or displays to meet the needs of any application without requiring an update to existing network architecture. So if a client builds a pool house or home cinema or wants to add AV to a guest bedroom or study, it's a simple plug and play matter of installing the screen and connecting a decoder – NetworkHD’s auto-discovery of system components will do the rest with zero configuration networking and add it to the system. Ditto for 400 Series encoders if an extra Blu-ray player, cable box or Apple TV gets added down the line.

Thanks to NetworkHD embracing standard networking technologies, systems are easy to roll out on both new and existing network architectures with dedicated AV switches or upgrading to a 10Gb architecture. This enables literally any point on the network to support the latest 4K video and HD audio, with PoE providing power to all components from the switch – thus eliminating ugly power supplies as well as potential points of failure from a system. Nothing worse than your Netflix going dark just because of a blown power supply!
New to all NetworkHD Series components, audio can now be broken out and streamed separately from video over the network to any decoder or devices such as QSC thanks to standards based approach with the 400 Series offering compelling new audio matrix functionality, leveraging networked AV distribution to its full potential. So if you want the game playing while the kids are watching Moana (or vice versa, depending on your viewing pleasure!), no problem.
For home AV multi-taskers (or more likely for commercial applications), the 400 Series also features powerful video wall capabilities including bezel correction, image rotation and portrait video walls, as well as traditional landscape modes for video walls up to 16×16.
But the NetworkHD 400 Series doesn’t just concentrate delivering the latest 4k technology with stunning image and audio quality – its also focuses on doing so as simple, seamless, control experience. The free NetworkHD Touch control app for iPad is a unique solution for simple, instant source selection to all screens in a system. Users can see what they’re switching and what they’ve switched with live video previews of all sources and selections right there on the iPad screen, ready to drag and drop with the flick of a finger.
But control options don’t stop there. CEC support for triggering displays on and off can be accomplished with the tap of a button and of course, bidirectional IR and RS-232 is supported for control of displays and sources from remote locations with integration for major control systems, including WyreStorm’s own Enado control solution.
All of this makes the 400 Series the perfect 4K UHD, 1 Gigabit, low latency AV signal management solution for any residential or commercial application.
