In a conversation with CE Pro, Skyworth’s Michael Gleason outlined how the company has repositioned its television business squarely for the custom-installation channel, focusing on specialty categories and CI-first support. Skyworth does not sell at retail and has built a portfolio around outdoor, portable, and design-centric “art TV” solutions intended to add value for integrators.
Headlining 2025 for the company is its new Canvas Elite, a step up from last year’s Canvas models. Launching in 86- and 100-inch screen sizes, Canvas Elite employs Mini-LED backlighting with full-array local dimming across more than 1,000 zones to pair high-brightness performance with significantly improved black levels and contrast control. A new matte screen further reduces reflections and preserves detail in challenging ambient light. The result, Gleason says, is finer gradation in dark scenes, richer color saturation, and overall image fidelity suited for multipurpose great rooms and dedicated theater spaces—while still serving art-mode use cases when the display is idle.
Outdoors, Skyworth’s Clarus line addresses both full-sun and partial-sun applications. The full-sun models are engineered to withstand the elements with an IP66 rating; up to 3,000 nits of brightness, IK10-rated tempered glass, and a two-year warranty. Partial-sun versions in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch sizes carry an IP55 rating, target ~1,200 nits, and add a matte screen to mitigate reflections under cover.
Dealer support is a central pillar: Skyworth emphasizes picture quality and margin, touting competitive profitability for dealers, along with nationwide in-home service through thousands of service centers. A dealer portal hosts control drivers and installation resources to streamline projects.
At the recently completed CEDIA Expo 2025 show in Denver, Skyworth showcased its Canvas Elite alongside the Clarus outdoor series, reflecting the brand’s commitment to high-performance displays that blend design, durability, and CI-friendly integration.
