Set against the scenic backdrop of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, The Pavilion project is an architectural centerpiece turned outdoor smart home living space thanks to a design-conscious technology stack developed by World Wide Stereo in close collaboration with the client, designer and architect.
Unified Technology Stack Enhances Outdoor Pavilion in Bucks County
Beyond the hidden outdoor AV infrastructure, the project incorporates discreet surveillance, full-property Wi-Fi and centralized lighting control, all unified through a single smart home interface.
A chef-grade outdoor kitchen with premium Hestan appliances anchors the space, while layered technology supports everything from relaxed daily use to large-scale entertaining.
Rather than being a simple, outdoor entertainment space, The Pavilion is designed as an architectural extension of smart home functionality, bringing multizone outdoor audio integration into a design-forward structure for a harmonious living environment.
“It’s not just a patio—it’s an architectural and technological extension of their lifestyle, designed for gathering, entertaining, and enjoying every season,” says Emily Cole, Chief Marketing Officer at World Wide Stereo.
Hand-Hewn Beams Serve as Project’s Defining Constraint
A series of hand-hewn beams supporting the custom pergola required careful concealment of the technology and cabling, with the beams ultimately becoming the vessels of concealment.
The integration team engineered a fully concealed infrastructure, routing all speaker wiring, video lines and control pathways through multiple conduits hidden within the structure itself.
Climate-Rated Electronics Stands Up to Nature’s Worst
Environmental exposure further shaped system design. Because The Pavilion is open to the elements, all components were selected for climate-rated outdoor performance.
To maintain visual continuity, speakers were custom airbrushed to match the ceiling finish, allowing high-performance audio to remain virtually invisible within the architectural envelope.
Sailcloth Shade Automation Adds Aesthetic Protection for Smart Home Pavilion
Custom-fabricated motorized sailcloth shades required tight coordination between fabricators, installers and the control system programmers.
Designed to span the full face of the pergola, the shades provide weather protection and solar control while withstanding wind and rain. Integrated automation ensures smooth operation and intuitive control, reinforcing the pavilion’s role as a functional, comfortable extension of the home.
“Through proactive planning, trade collaboration, and careful engineering, we delivered a smart, beautiful space that functions flawlessly—without ever looking like a ‘tech install,’” concludes Cole.
This project is part of our coverage for the 2025 CE Pro Home of the Year Awards.
