Magnetar’s MKII Series introduces an updated version of the UDP900 in the form of the flagship UDP900MKII.
The unit maintains support for UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, SACD, and stored or networked media, and uses a revised Magnetar video engine to improve upscaling, color handling, contrast management, and noise reduction.
Audio signal paths have also been reworked to reduce distortion, stabilize clocking, and maintain format integrity across digital and analog outputs. Network capabilities have also been expanded to support integration in high-end systems.
According to Magnetar, UDP900MKII utilizes dual ESS 9038 PRO DACs and XMOS USB audio playback, supporting formats up to 768 PCM / 512 DSD. A dedicated HDMI audio output with TMDS retiming has also been implemented for jitter mitigation.
Like its counterpart, the UDP800MKII, the 900MKII includes revised USB 3.0 ports with isolated power supplies and dedicated hub controllers to improve playback stability when using external storage. The aluminum chassis also incorporates dual-layer shielding and internal wiring upgrades to limit EMI ingress and maintain signal performance.
Disc mechanisms have been re-engineered for smoother operation and reduced error rates, with EMI suppression applied across high-interference zones.
The UDP900MKII carries an MSRP of $3,299.99 and is now shipping through Magnetar and authorized dealers, with introductory Black Friday pricing of $2,999.99 for the UDP900MKII.
