Springs Window Fashions, a longstanding manufacturer of custom window-treatment solutions, has acquired substantially all the assets of Wideband Labs, LLC, doing business as PowerShades. Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed at this time.
A Brief Background on Springs
Based in Middleton, Wisconsin, Springs is a manufacturer of custom window treatments, though integrators may have the most familiarity with its Graber brand having recently entered the CI channel within the past few years.
Why Springs Acquired PowerShades
According to Springs CEO Jason Bingham, PowerShades is “an ideal fit” for the company, highlighting the company’s innovation and channel specialization as a natural complement to Springs’ strategy of delivering “brilliant simplicity” to customers.
By integrating PowerShades’ solutions into Springs’ existing product line, both companies aim to offer more comprehensive options for B2B and B2C customers, spanning a broader range of applications, with a particular focus being placed on the CEDIA channel, as per the companies’ announcement.
The Growth of Shading
Shading has grown considerably as a category in recent years, with CE Pro’s 2025 Shade Controls Deep Dive that the median residential shading project now includes 13 window treatments, with project values holding steady around $25,000.
The study also noted that shading systems are becoming as critical as lighting, audio or home-theater components in many home specifications.
PowerShades’ History in the CI Channel
PowerShades, for its part, has been a longstanding provider of motorized shades for residential and commercial application with the company’s portfolio offering a range of interior and exterior shading products.
The company has been operating within the CI channel since 2017 and is supported by a vast dealer network while also having its products distributed via PowerHouse Alliance.
in speaking on the acquisition, Ryan Chacon, President of PowerShades echoed Bingham’s earlier sentiment, noting that Springs’ operational scale and support would allow PowerShades to grow faster while remaining focused on technology development.
What Will Happen to PowerShades Post-Springs-Acquisition
Following the acquisition, PowerShades will continue to operate as a separate business unit under the Springs portfolio, maintaining its headquarters in Joplin, Missouri, with its existing leadership team, led by President Ryan Chacon, remaining in place.
