Sonos has announced Amp Multi, a professional-grade, multi-channel streaming amplifier designed to support larger and more complex residential audio installations.
According to Sonos, the new product expands on the Sonos Amp platform with a scalable architecture intended for custom integrators working in multi-zone and high-speaker-count environments.
Amp Multi features eight amplified outputs rated at 125 watts per channel at 8 ohms and can be configured into as many as four independent zones. Sonos says each output can support up to three Sonos Architectural speakers, allowing a single unit to power up to 24 speakers, with additional units added for larger systems.
According to Sonos CEO Tom Conrad, Amp Multi was developed to extend the company’s two-channel Sonos Amp philosophy into larger residential projects, while maintaining simplified setup and system usability for homeowners.
“Sonos Amp is the most widely used two-channel streaming amplifier in residential installation because it’s powerful, dependable, and intuitive,” said Tom Conrad, CEO of Sonos. “Amp Multi takes that same philosophy and applies it to larger systems. It makes ambitious designs more efficient to build and install, and easier to live with.”
From a system design standpoint, Sonos says any output can be assigned to any zone, enabling integrators to adapt layouts as projects evolve without reworking wiring or system topology. The amplifier is built on a gallium nitride (GaN) power architecture paired with Class-D post-filter feedback, which Sonos says improves efficiency, thermal performance, and long-term system stability. The design allows for fanless, convection-based cooling, the company adds.
According to Sonos, Amp Multi also introduces ProTune, a manual tuning tool that provides integrators with per-output control, including a 10-band parametric EQ, gain adjustment, width control, and delay offset. Additional DSP tools include Optimize Sonos Speakers, which applies speaker-specific profiles for Sonos Architectural models.
Installation features include a 1.5U chassis and an optional 2U rack mount that creates ventilation space above and below the unit. The amplifier’s flat-back design and recessed connectors allow it to stand upright during rack installation. Sonos also includes an audible identification feature that plays a unique chirp during setup to help integrators identify individual units within a rack, the company says

Like the Era 100 Pro, the Amp Multi is available only through Sonos’ integrator program, and it was designed “with integrators at the heart of every decision,” says Chris Heintzelman, vice president of product at Sonos.
“The goal was to reduce friction at every stage of a project, from installation and setup to system tuning,” says Heintzelman, in a statement. “This is about giving professionals more control while keeping the system approachable for the people who live with it every day.”
Sonos says Amp Multi is designed to integrate with third-party control systems and maintain compatibility with the broader Sonos streaming ecosystem. The product will be available globally through Sonos installation partners in the coming months.
Sonos plans to demonstrate Amp Multi at Integrated Systems Europe 2026, taking place Feb. 3–6 in Barcelona, at booth 1E500 in Hall 1.
