Sonos has expanded its library of streaming platforms by introducing support for Dolby Atmos Music and Amazon’s Ultra HD audio format via Amazon Music. The move is designed to give Sonos customers more immersive ways to enjoy their favorite tracks, all while delivering a listening experience true to the artistโ€™s intent.

According to Sonos, now that high-resolution audio formats are entering the mainstream, the company has worked hard to help its customers navigate a new era of listening with products that are easy to use, sound great, and are compatible with a wide array of products. The news follows a recent music survey from Dolby of U.S. adults that showed nearly 90% of respondents who subscribe to a music streaming service think enhanced audio quality is a โ€œmust-haveโ€ feature of their subscription.

Customers with an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription can access this high-res content on their Sonos speakers by downloading the latest software within the Sonos app. In addition, customers will also see new badges on the Now Playing screen indicating the audio experience they are hearing via Amazon Music, so they know exactly what they are listening to.

With this move, Sonos users can now hear tracks in lossless audio up to 24-bit / 48kHz on the company’s speakers, as well as Dolby Atmos Music, which offers an immersive audio experience that can reveal audio details with increased clarity and depth.

Currently, Dolby Atmos Music is only supported on Sonos’ Arc and second-generation Beam soundbar, with the company planning to expand Dolby Atmos Music availability soon. Sonos customers can also check the company’s website to find out more information about country availability and control instructions.

Customers who want to check out the functionality of these newly available formats can take advantage of two playlists curated by Sonosโ€™ Sound Experience team to highlight the advantages of Amazon’s Ultra HD format and Dolby Atmos Music.
