Somfy myLink Provides Voice Control and Expanded Integration

Voice control via an Amazon Alexa skill gives the myLink the ability to accept control commands like, 'Alexa, turn the shades on.'

The myLink™ from Somfy Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of radio-controlled motors for interior and exterior window coverings, allows for mobile control of Radio Technology Somfy (RTS) motorized products from a smartphone or tablet and acts as a bridge to integrate with third-party systems. With updated hardware and software, the myLink improves performance and expands integration options for Somfy-powered motorized window coverings.

Voice control is available for Somfy RTS products now that the myLink offers a smart home skill for Amazon Alexa. Users can control their Somfy-powered products through simple voice commands like, “Alexa, turn the shades on/off.”

They can also incorporate RTS products into their Amazon Alexa routines, operating window coverings along with other smart products like lighting, thermostats, TVs and more.

“Somfy has always been committed to making high-quality products that are integration ready,” says Tom Murphy, chief operating officer of Somfy North America. “The myLink is the latest effort to simplify integration with our wide scope of Somfy-powered solutions.”

myLink Gets a Face Lift

The revamped myLink interface features a sleek, modern design as well as improved response time and security enhancements. A dual antenna design strengthens RF performance, while dual-band WiFi support makes the myLink compatible with more home networks.

Software enhancements allow the myLink to act as an IP bridge for wireless integration of RTS products into home automation systems, which Somfy says makes it easier than ever to bring the value of motorized window coverings into a smart home environment. Control4 and Savant drivers are currently available with more soon to come for other major home automation systems.

The Somfy myLink is also compatible with the Somfy Synergy API integration protocol, for integrators who would like to create custom programming for their projects. This API offers new IP solutions, openness through drivers, and consistency for integrators from project to project.

Somfy is also finalizing the details for the next expansion of myLink:  IFTTT (If This, Then That) compatibility.

Somfy will be demonstrating its wide range of integration and motorized shade solutions at Booth #5013 at CEDIA 2018, including the myLink, SDN PoE Gateway and the Sonesse 30 (Li-ion) RTS motor.
