SimpliSafe’s Breakout at CEDIA Expo 2025

Long known for its DIY security systems, SimpliSafe, like quite a few others, made the move into the professional channel while at CEDIA Expo 2025.

At CEDIA Expo 2025, SimpliSafe—long known for its DIY security systems—officially entered the pro-install channel, joining the wave of other similarly positioned brands breaking into the custom integration space at the show.

The announcement marked the company’s first formal outreach to professional installers, aligning its offerings with residential and commercial customers seeking more personalized, high-touch solutions through trusted integration partners.

SimpliSafe’s Strategic Move into the Pro-Install Channel

SimpliSafe’s entry into the pro channel reflects a broader trend in the smart home sector that took off in quite a few places at CEDIA Expo 2025: traditionally DIY companies or product types opening tailored, professional solutions to custom integrators.

Both Aqara and Shelly unveiled their own pro-centric offerings while at the show, and while Shelly has been courting integrators for quite some time (and Aqara has also maintained a pro portal), the moves made this year can be seen as more widespread support of the pro-install channel.

Rather than being simply “cheaper options,” however, the noteworthy aspect of these expansions are the brands’ leveraging of certain DIY benefits to integrators, which in many cases, comes in the ease of installation and simplified interfaces for end users.

SimpliSafe’s Offering to Integrators

“This new channel is a great opportunity for installers looking to grow their business with a trusted brand,” says Scott Braun, Chief Growth Officer at SimpliSafe.

“It gives them access to proactive home security solutions, like SimpliSafe Active Guard Outdoor Protection, which we believe is the best and most effective home security on the market.”

As part of the announcement, the company will be bringing its full suite of products to the professional channel. This includes its AI-powered Active Guard Outdoor Protection, a service that blends artificial intelligence with live monitoring agents to provide real-time deterrence for potential threats.

Hybrid Security Fast Growing as Industry Standard

While at CEDIA Expo 2025, the company held multiple showcases for attendees. In these demos, the service’s automated detection worked in tandem with live intervention, aiming to highlight the strengths of a hybrid approach.

This approach has gradually been gaining traction among security providers, with CE Pro reporting on it as far back as 2023’s CEDIA Expo as AI as we currently know it first began to be incorporated into security systems.

While CE Pro identified security as perhaps being one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom with regards to gaining functionality, it is interesting to note it has been the blending of human and machine capabilities in the security industry that has developed into the most robust solution to date.

Across many security systems providers, AI is being deployed not only to enhance detection accuracy but to enable real-time, preventative action, with the broader move being towards more proactive systems that leverage AI-powered data collection to help better inform human operators–who ultimately make the final call.

Integrators Move to More Service-Based Offerings

While SimpliSafe has yet to detail specific integrator programs or pricing structures, the mention of “proactive monitoring” and “customized solutions” suggests an effort to align with other integrator priorities CE Pro has uncovered over the years.

As detailed in CE Pro’s State of the Industry report, dealers have increasingly sought security systems that integrate easily with whole-home control platforms and offer long-term RMR (recurring monthly revenue) opportunities.

However, questions remain about how SimpliSafe plans to support the pro channel long-term—particularly around training, margin protection and integration with existing control ecosystems, as all three of these concerns remain top-of-mind for most dealers today.
