Among Paul Manafort's other proclivities, the beleaguered lobbyist and former Trump campaign chairman seems to have a penchant for very expensive things. Cars aren't even the half of it — he allegedly made just $272,000 in payments on at least four Range Rovers and a Mercedez Benz.
Where does home technology rate in his splurges? Apparently he paid $1.3 million — almost five times more than the cars — to a “home automation, lighting and home-entertainment company” in Florida, a federal indictment notes. Most of the funds allegedly came from accounts in Cypress.
No, we don't know who the integrator was, nor what types of goodies Manafort has in his smart home, but it's nice to see home-technology getting a fair share of the spending spree.

By contrast Manafort allegedly paid just $113,000 to an “audio, video and control system home integration and installation company in the Hamptons, N.Y.”
The installation company at least got more than Manafort's Hamptons landscaper, who only got $820,000 for his work. A housekeeper in the same location received just $20,000.
But in this case, prosecutors claim, it's the clothes that make the Manafort. He reportedly dished out $1.37 million in clothes from just two stores.
Manafort has pleaded not guilty and his attorney calls the charges “ridiculous.”
