Nest is testing a new thermostat feature that can help users look after their homes. The Nest thermostat can now help identify potential issues with your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. If a potential issue is detected, Nest will send users an alert via email.
If an integrator or homeowner is signed up to get theย Nest Home Report, they will be automatically enrolled to get these new HVAC alert emails.
To activate the option, integrators will have to sign their clients up for the Nest Home Report and HVAC alerts:
- Open the Nest app
- Tapย Settings
- Tapย Notificationsย ย Nest Home Report
- Slide the slider on
If users want the Home Report but not HVAC alerts, integrators or users can opt out of HVAC alerts by clicking the link at the end of the alert email.
How Nest HVAC alerts work
Sometimes HVAC system shows warning signs that itโs having issues. For example, if it takes longer than normal to cool a home, there might be a problem with the cooling system (AC). If the Nest thermostat detects these unusual or unexpected patterns, Nest may send you an email alert.ย
The alert email tells homeowners what their thermostat noticed and which system (heating or cooling) may have been affected.ย Homeowners also get a link to an optional survey to tell Nest more about what they have experienced with their HVAC systems, and what the homeowner or integrator did to resolve it.ย ย
