Metra Home Theater Group is set to announce the addition of new technologies to support the redesign of its Ethereal MHX and MHY product lines. The company will introduce the newly reegineered products at CES 2018 from Jan. 9-12 in Las Vegas in its Central Hall booth (#11128) during the annual trade event.
Ethereal MHX and MHY HDMI cables are able to carry 4K content farther than previous versions of the products due to Metra's construction technologies, according to the company. The Ethereal MHY high-speed HDMI cables with Ethernet support 4K Ultra HD with high dynamic range (HDR) at 60Hz. Cables ranging from a half meter to 10 meters support 18Gbps of throughput, while cables ranging from 12 meters to 15 meters support data rates as high as 10.2Gbps.
The Ethereal MHX high-speed HDMI cables provide 18Gbps data rate capabilities up to 7.5 meters. Cables ranging in length from 8 meters to 12 meters deliver 10.2Gbps of throughput.
Longer Ethereal MHX HDMI cables that range in size from 15 meters to 17 meters deliver data rates as high as 6.75Gbps. Metra Home Theater emphasizes that integrators can use its HDM-GA1 Gigabit Accelerator with the 8-meter to 17-meter cables to deliver 4K with HDR at 18Gbps.
DPL-Certified Metra Cables
The new cables come on the heels of HDMI Licensing Group's announcement of the official release of the new HDMI 2.1 specification, which calls for 4K signal transmission at 120Hz, as well as 8K video at 60Hz. The spec also calls for a 48Gbps bandwidth speed.
The MHY and MHX HDMI cables are certified by DPL Labs, and the products also incorporate audio return channels (ARC). Other design elements include multi-layer shielding and 24K gold-plated Grip-Lox connectors that secure the cables to source components and displays without increasing the cables' pull tension. The Grip-Lox Connector design helps to prevent cables from accidentally pulling out and creating service call issues.
