Kaleidescape Launches Movie Rentals for Strato Systems

Published: January 28, 2021

Kaleidescape is changing the game in the media server space. On January 26, the company began offering movie rental options for its Strato systems.

The company explains that Like its purchased movies, Kaleidescape Strato system rentals are downloaded in full resolution and they are not streamed.

Kaleidescape customers will have 30 days to start watching rented movies. The company emphasizes that once users start watching their rented movies they will have 48 hours to watch the movie.

Kaleidescape also emphasizes that a rented movie can be downloaded to only one home at a time and watched on only one player at a time. If a customer decides to purchase a rented movie within 30 days of the rental transaction, half the rental price will be applied toward the purchase.

Additionally, the company also notes that not all movies will be available for rental, and while some movies may be available for purchase in 4K, the rental versions may only be available in HD versions.

In total, Kaleidscape is set to offer more than 8,000 movies upon the initial launch of the rental service, and some of those titles will be premium content (PVOD) in which the movies will be running simultaneously in movie theaters.

Moreover, the company adds that when available, immersive audio formats, including Dolby Atmos will be a part of its movie rental options.
