At CEDIA Expo CIX 2025, industry consultant Buzz Delano outlined his vision for a more integrator-centric smart home industry and introduced a new content initiative focused on advancing the profession through shared knowledge and best practices.
Delano, principal consultant at Delano Associates, brings more than three decades of experience in residential AV and smart home technology. His career has spanned manufacturing, consulting, and extensive involvement with CEDIA, including eight years of board service and participation on multiple volunteer committees. According to Delano, the industry’s evolution from traditional AV toward fully integrated smart homes has accelerated collaboration across architecture, design, building, and technology disciplines.
Delano’s focus is on integrators and smart home professionals who directly engage homeowners, designers, architects, and builders. Delano emphasized that these professionals play a central role in shaping the client experience and advancing the industry’s reputation.

The platform aims to support integrators not only with industry news, but also with business-enablement insights, peer-to-peer learning, and shared best practices. Delano noted that many integrators spend most of their time working in their businesses, leaving limited opportunity to step back and evaluate long-term strategy, operations, and growth.
In discussing the continued relevance of CEDIA Expo, Deleno pointed to three core pillars: networking, exposure to new technologies, and education. He highlighted CEDIA’s long-standing emphasis on education as critical to helping integrators adapt to changing technologies, workforce challenges, and client expectations.
Deleno News Advance is intended to complement those efforts by creating an ongoing forum for dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing the integrator’s role as both technology expert and project leader in today’s smart home market.
