New data from D-Tools hints that integrators are seeing significant revenue growth opportunities in lighting thanks in no small part to lighting fixtures and motorized window treatments, as well as the adoption of centralized control systems.
What the Data Says
As reported by D-Tools, the data shows a strong correlation between control platforms and the inclusion of lighting fixtures. In addition, the D-Tools states it is seeing rapid growth in motorized shades and blinds as a revenue-driving category, something CE Pro has seen in its own separate research on the category.
Centralized Control Increasing Lighting Fixture Adoption
Regarding lighting fixtures, the data shows that projects including a centralized control solution are 330 times more likely to also include lighting fixtures. This was gleamed by the following data points:
- 9% of projects with integrated control included lighting fixtures in 2025.
- Only 5.8% of projects without centralized control included lighting fixtures.
According to D-Tools, that represents a 19.1 percentage-point gap, underscoring how control platforms unlock higher-value lighting opportunities
Motorized Window Treatments Lead All Categories in Revenue Growth
Moving on to shading, in 2025 D-Tools found that motorized shades and blinds experienced the largest increase in project market share of any equipment category tracked in its Cloud platform. Some noteworthy metrics include:
- Motorized window treatments gained 1.27% more share of total project revenue year-over-year.
- This growth outpaced all other major categories, including audio, video, security, and power.
- Regionally, the strongest gains were seen among integrators based in the Western U.S.
The Methodology
This data was based on an analysis of tens of thousands of projects created and managed in D-Tools Cloud during 2025.
Integrator Takeaways and Opportunities
It should come as no surprise that lighting continues to be a high growth area for integrators, however, what the D-Tools data highlights the most are the systems that are ultimately playing into lighting trends.
“Light-adjacent systems,” such as centralized smart home control and motorized shading are either adding to or benefiting from the growth in lighting, therefore offering even greater pathways for integrators to grow revenue on a project.
While at Lightapalooza 2026, D-Tools will be showcasing even more of the insights listed here, so attendees to the show looking to learn more about these opportunities can stop by the company’s booth (#518) Feb. 16–19, at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Round Rock, Texas.
