When the owners of Airport Health Club in Santa Rosa, CA needed to overhaul their video system they turned to John Rudoph, Vice President of PCD AV System Integration.
The club features six large (80”) displays in strength training, several various displays in the lobby, locker rooms, racquetball courts and more than 50 displays integrated within various cardio fitness equipment. The existing system required a dedicated (and unsightly) AV rack to house 40 DirecTV receivers and modulators. Due to space limitations, the original system rack had been located in plain sight, something club owners were not excited about and eventually wanted to relocate out of sight.
In addition to updating the RF distribution for better and more even signal distribution to the displays and relocating the rack, PCD recommended a DISH Smartbox. The all-in-one compact design of the Smartbox enabled the club to eliminate all modulators, receivers and the need for all of space taken up in the rack. The Smartbox was small enough to allow the removal of all of the receivers from Directv and modulators and also allow us to have the rack re-located upstairs in a centrally located remote office. In addition, DISH was able to provide a satellite-based distributed music solution, allowing the club to eliminate costly alternatives.
