CEDIA Expo’s 2026 Smart Stage Schedule is Out; Here’s What Caught Our Attention

Beyond the sessions, CEDIA Expo also has revealed a new set of manufacturer awards it will be presenting at the show this year.
Published: March 23, 2026

The full Smart Stage schedule for CEDIA Expo 2026 is now live with the official programming for the stage highlighting sessions surrounding AI-enhanced control platforms, device protection on the home grid and scaling a light commercial business model, in addition to a new awards series being introduced to this year’s show.

Why It’s Important for Integrators

The Smart Stage acts as CEDIA Expo’s central hub for custom integrators, dealers, manufacturers, designers and business leaders for information exchange at the show.

Each year, Smart Stage sessions are structured to address industry best practices, identify areas for improvement and highlight emerging technologies poised to shape future projects.

2026 Smart Stage to Host Best Booth Awards and More

Beyond core educational programming and business strategy, the 2026 Smart Stage also will play host to the BEST and Home of the Year awards, however, this year, the show is introducing a new series of booth awards aimed at highlighting the most creative and visually impressive exhibits presented on this year’s show floor.

The Women to Watch 2026 presentation will also be featured, celebrating the third annual CE Pro Women to Watch honorees for their contributions in driving meaningful impact across the technology and integration sectors.

There are currently 19 sessions planned for the show this year, including awards, so this article will look at five sessions that caught the attention of CE Pro editors (listed in no particular order). The full Smart Stage schedule for 2026 is available on CEDIA Expo’s website.

Session #1: When Smart Homes Get Smarter: AI Enters the Rack

Moving beyond the topic of business tools that have been talked about at length for some time, AI Enters the Rack looks to focus on the impact AI is making on varied smart home systems.

In particular, the session will examine how devices like intelligent cameras, adaptive audio solutions and advanced control platforms are introducing new layers to their experiences through the incorporation of AI, and how this will impact system design moving forward.

Session #2: Energy Management: Why Energy is the Real Issue Behind Smart Home System Issues

Showcasing how the discussion of energy has shifted over the years, Energy Management plans to look at a common misconception–that being when systems fail, it’s the control platform at fault–and reframe it as a power problem.

This discussion emphasizes the importance of energy management in custom integration projects and aims to cover multiple different segments of energy in the home. This includes:

  • Leveraging power conditioning to prevent bad power issues like fluctuations and voltage drops from harming sensitive equipment.
  • Deploying battery storage solutions both as a means of establishing grid resilience and continuity in the event of outages.
  • And utilizing intelligent load management to both extend the operational effectiveness of batteries by minimizing unnecessary loads across the household.

Session #3: Upsell Enablers: Lighting & Shading as the Front Door

It’s no secret that lighting and shading are big moneymakers in the industry, but Upsell Enablers looks to frame the category as one that can not only make money on its own but also be used to grow other parts of an integrator’s business.

CE Pro’s own research has found that these solution categories frequently open the door to subsequent technology integrations, enabling the deployment of expansive networking, audio, video and whole-home control systems.

During the session, subject matter experts will address how lighting positions integration firms earlier in the design process while outlining effective approaches for strengthening relationships with architects and interior designers and opening opportunities for recurring upgrades throughout project lifecycles.

Session #4: Cultivating Talent: CEDIA’s Role in Shaping the Next Generation of Integrators

Cultivating Talent will look at an ongoing issue within the custom integration industry: that being how it can build a robust talent pipeline that can help keep firms afloat.

A dedicated panel will examine CEDIA’s own role in cultivating the next generation of skilled professionals to serve the sector, going over some of the association’s partnerships with organizations such as FIRST Robotics and SkillsUSA and the effect that has had on new talent being introduced into the industry.

Session #5: From Homes to Main Street: Scaling to Light Commercial Projects

From Homes to Main Street aims to address a business segment that while many integrators at the top end live it on a regular basis, can be challenging to achieve for younger, less established firms.

Restaurants, fitness studios, retail stores and offices are experiencing increased demand for the same advanced technologies historically implemented in high-end residences. However, commercial projects present distinct requirements for system reliability, network infrastructure, service-level agreements and project management workflows.

This session aims to outline a structured approach for residential integration firms expanding into the light commercial market, addressing sector-specific challenges and strategies for avoiding common pitfalls during the transition.
