Among the three new projectors announced by Optoma is the $1,500 UHD50 4K projector. The reasonably priced Optoma UHD50 is aggressively targeting the projection UltraHD market, providing homeowners with a 4K projector for $1,500.
The UHD50 4K projector produces up to 2,400 lumens and contrast levels as high as 500,000:1. Optoma says that through its 4K resolution capabilities, high lumen levels and high contrast levels, the UHD50 is able to produce “razor-sharp images with exceptional clarity and vibrancy.”

Optoma UHD50 Employs TI DLP Technologies
At the heart of the UHD50's value and performance capabilities is Texas Instruments' (TI) 4K UHD DLP chipset, which produces 8.3 million pixels and a RGBRGB color wheel.
According to Optoma, the UHD50 is compatible with the HDR10 high dynamic range (HDR) format, as well as the Rec.2020 and DCI-P3 color spaces.
Some of the UHD50's installation options include vertical lens shift and a 1.3x zoom.
The projector also incorporates a pair of HDMI 2.0 inputs that support HDCP 2.2 copyright protection standards, and it offers the ability to reproduce 60Hz refresh rates to deliver to homeowners smooth-looking images.
