ADI | Snap One has officially launched Control4 X4, a redesigned version of its flagship control platform aimed at enhancing the smart living experience for both homeowners and business users. The new platform features a streamlined interface, expanded personalization capabilities, and simplified system setup for integrators.
The X4 platform was introduced at last year’s CEDIA Expo, so the actual release comes about 9 months after the company first announced it.
X4 Represents ‘Significant’ Upgrade to Control4 Platform
Control4 X4 represents a significant update in the evolution of the brand’s control ecosystem. According to the company, the platform was developed to improve the user experience by reducing the need for service calls, allowing end users to easily adjust settings, routines, and controls through an updated mobile app, T4 touchscreens, or web interface.

The platform introduces a new Home Screen that minimizes scrolling and provides immediate access to frequently used devices and automations. Other enhancements include customizable Room View screens, live camera feeds, and adjustable text sizes for better accessibility. End users can also create “Routines” and drag-and-drop “Widgets” to manage common tasks such as lighting control, TV presets, or time-based automations with just a few taps.
“The Control4 experience has progressed from a programmed system into an intelligent, adaptable smart living experience. As a combined business, ADI | Snap One is committed to providing our customers and end-users with intuitive and efficient technologies, like Control4 X4,” said Jason Winchester, senior vice president and chief product officer, in a statement. “X4 introduces a fresh navigation design language and powerful personalization tools like Widgets and Routines, allowing both integrators and end users to fine-tune their automation settings effortlessly. It’s not a replacement for custom programming, but rather an enhancement that enables quick, easy setup and post-installation modifications.”
Latest Control4 Update Adds Apple Integration
Control4 X4 also brings deeper integration with the Apple ecosystem. Users can control their systems via Apple CarPlay, Siri voice commands, the iPhone Control Center, and Mac desktop. This expanded compatibility is enabled by Control4 Connect, a requirement for X4 installations that also offers cloud-based support and updates.
The platform likely looks to leverage Apple’s forthcoming enhanced AI features and an improved Siri, which are expected to usher in several new smart home devices from the Cupertino tech giant. That smart home strategy has reportedly been delayed due to delays in its AI strategy.
Snap One Adding Tools to Support X4 Deployment
For integrators, Snap One is offering new tools and resources designed to simplify deployment and support of X4 systems. A new Knowledge Hub, accessible through Control4’s mobile app and T4 touchscreens, provides on-demand tutorials and documentation for end users.
According to Winchester, early feedback on the platform has been positive, with customers praising the simplified navigation and flexibility for post-installation changes. The company is positioning Control4 X4 as a foundational piece in its broader strategy to create a more unified and user-friendly control experience across home and business environments.
Although InfoComm is largely a commercial show, the company will be showcasing Control4 X4 at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando at booth #3728 from June 11–13.
