ADI Global Distribution (ADI) announced a new series of updates to its Luma X21 Network Video Recorder (NVR) portfolio, extending capabilities across its 4-, 8- and 16-channel models.
The updates, ADI says, aim to help modernize its entry-level residential products to better scale with the needs of surveillance projects in a way that doesn’t invalidate already existing systems and instead only requires simple replacements.
“This update to the Luma X21 NVR platform reflects how residential surveillance projects are evolving,” said Jason Winchester, SVP Chief Product Officer at ADI.
“Dealers need systems that are easier to deploy, powerful enough to support higher-resolution cameras, and simple to manage long after installation. By enhancing performance, power capacity and OvrC integration across the X21 lineup, we’re giving integrators a more capable foundation they can rely on as projects scale and customer expectations continue to rise.”
What Improvements Are Coming to the Luma X21 NVRs
ADI states the updates build upon earlier improvements made across processing performance, bandwidth, power delivery and installation design to support larger residential projects with higher resolution cameras.
On select models, PoE budgets have also been increased to better support higher-resolution and higher-power cameras without the need for additional power hardware.
Outside of performance updates, the NVRs have also been given new hardware in the form of a quieter cooling fan. For the 16-channel X21 NVR in particular, an internal power supply has been added to reduce external cabling, which ADI says should help lead to simpler installation.
As with the wider Luma portfolio, the updated X21 NVRs are fully NDAA compliant and deeply integrated with OvrC in addition to supporting native integration with Control4, allowing integrators to configure systems quickly, monitor device health remotely, update firmware, troubleshoot issues and adjust settings for both NVRs and connected cameras offsite.
What Integrators Should Take Note Of
According to ADI, the refreshed 16-channel X21 NVR in particular is designed as a direct, one-to-one replacement for first-generation X20 residential models.
This was done to address “evolving system requirements while maintaining continuity for existing Luma dealers.” It does not, ADI stresses, replace the commercial-grade Luma 420 Series NVRs and is instead being positioned as part of ADI’s residential and entry-level surveillance offering.
