‘World’s Largest RV’ Features Three Floors of Smart Living Space and a Dedicated Theater

Gould Sound & Light delivers comprehensive mobile automation using Crestron systems in a three-level luxury RV.

Anderson Mobile Estates, known for building some of the most luxurious recreational vehicles in the world, is constructing what it calls the “world’s largest RV”. The mobile estate features three levels, including a first floor with four slide-outs, a telescoping second story with a full primary suite, and a third-floor rooftop deck with deployable guard rails.

To support the level of comfort and technology expected in such a vehicle, integrator Gould Sound & Light was brought on to design and install a full automation and AV package. The team faced a range of challenges, including how to manage expanding and moving sections of the RV, ensure remote accessibility, and maintain a consistent user experience throughout the mobile space. For a project with this level of complexity, Gould Sound & Light selected Crestron as the backbone of the system.

The result is a fully integrated control solution that manages lighting, shading, audio, video, HVAC, water features, door locks, and intercoms. The installation includes 28 Horizon keypads, five wall-mounted touch screens, 14 motorized Crestron shades, and two Horizon thermostats. Each keypad features a standardized layout across the RV, with dedicated buttons for lighting control and custom “good morning” and “good night” scenes. Touch screens in key rooms allow occupants to adjust their environment, view live camera feeds, and communicate with other zones or guests at the exterior doors.

Crestron DM NVX distributes AV content throughout the vehicle, supporting eight video zones that include an 80-inch front cinema screen and three additional viewing areas. The RV also houses a dedicated theater space with custom seating, a 70-inch display, and a fiber optic ceiling. When the RV is in motion, AV functionality is limited for safety, and the driver can control power to the system from the cab. For added flexibility, the entire system can be accessed remotely through tablets, allowing off-site control and diagnostics.

World’s Largest RV a ‘One-of-a-Kind’ Mobile Smart Home

Given the moving walls and telescoping levels, cabling and component placement had to be carefully designed to avoid stress during transit and setup. The system was programmed by Crestron Service Provider Programmation Claude Raymond to meet all usage scenarios, whether stationary or mobile.

By choosing Crestron, Gould Sound & Light was able to deliver a smart home experience within the footprint of a mobile vehicle. The integration provides the RV owners with the same level of control and luxury they would expect in a custom-built residence. Every aspect of the environment can be tailored to fit the moment, whether the RV is parked for a weekend getaway or traveling across the country.

With this project, Crestron technology proves that automation is not limited to fixed structures. Through careful planning and execution, Gould Sound & Light has created a one-of-a-kind mobile home that blends advanced control, entertainment, and convenience into a truly flexible living space.
