Klipsch has announced the introduction of its latest generation Reference Series speakers: the RF-7 III floorstanding loudspeaker and the RC-64 III center-channel loudspeaker.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-based audio company says the newly improved speakers offer homeowners a choice of higher performing loudspeaker options than its previous versions.
Utilizing a new 1 3/4-inch titanium compression driver with an “enhanced” phase-plug geometry design that is said to improve sound pressure linearity at high frequencies, along with a new horn design that is said to improve high-frequency response and extension, while “enhancing imaging and dynamics” the speakers can be used for applications, including home theater and music.
Other design elements that were updated include Klipsch's Cerametallic woofers. These woofers are designed to minimize distortion, and when combined with the Tractrix horns, the speakers deliver high sensitivity to allow a variety of amplifiers to efficiency drive the speakers.
“These speakers have earned the nickname 'fire-breathing monsters,' for a reason,” says Kerry Geist, product manager, Klipsch Group.
“They are the best sounding audiophile speaker at this price point.”

Highlighting the RF-7 III is a dual-chamber enclosure design that enable the speaker's two 10-inch drivers and ports to work independently of one another. This design Klipsch explains improves the speaker's linearity and it minimizes midrange anomalies.
Klipsch specifies the 8-ohm RF-7 III floorstanding speaker to be 100dB sensitive, and its frequency response to be 32Hz to 25kHz +/-3dB.

Employing a driver array that includes four 6.5-inch woofers, along with its compression driver and horn technologies that is controlled with a 2.5-way crossover, the speaker is able to reproduce a frequency response of 57Hz to 24kHz +/-3dB.
Klipsch adds the speaker has an 8-ohm impedance rating and a 99dB sensitivity rating.
In addition, both speakers feature furniture-grade cabinet veneers in a choice of finishes that include black ash, cherry or walnut.
